Then don't reply in it. If people still want to post in here they are more than welcome. You don't have to open it if you really don't want to
I agree - Clemens MUST start this year and we need to dangle Pennington (out there to those teams that need a smart veteran QB) like some low hanging fruit on draft day. If he does go to the Chiefs though when they play us this year you know Chad will throw for 3 TD's and 320 yards. Sorry too many years of having season tickets and mediocrity
Under normal circumstances I would agree with you but Chad really sucks so that ain't happening! More like Larry Johnson running for 200 yards and 3 T/D.
He gives us a better chance than anyone else currently on the roster EDIT - just to follow up, if this team is going to win the Super Bowl it's going to have to do it with a solid ground game and a dominating defense. Both of which seem to be what the front office are gearing towards.
At some point the man behind center will have to make a play in Jan to beat in their Primes Brady, Manning, LT and the Jaguars who are on the way to being a Sb caliber team. Chad can not do it. Period. The probability of a Jets team with Chad at the Helm that wins three games in Jan is next to nothing. What does Chad give us the best chance to win? What is his Lifetime record?
The probability of playing in January with Clemens at the helm is also next to nothing based on what we have seen so far. So our only other option is Number 10. We'll ride Pennington further in 2008 than we would Clemens.
No one knows what Clemens will look like behind a real NFL o-line. We all know what Penny looks like behind one and that includes a scared puppy dog face and choke jobs against strong teams in the playoffs.
Was Chad 1-8 last year and Clemens 3-4 with Wallace Wright and Brad Smith as his primary receivers in some games. He also did not get two shots at the Mighty Bills as well.
Chad was 1-8 on a busted up ankle. Clemens had a win against the MIGHTY Dolphins and a win against the MIGHTY Chiefs. Whippty friggin do. And he got a win against the Steelers because the Steelers played like absolute dog sh*t. I'm not going to give that one to Clemens.
Resistance is futile! Besides, this is mere child's play in comparison to the old obsessive/compulsive Ty Law threads. Ah, those were the days. Who on this board didn't feel like they ate a bowl of drugs on a daily basis over that?...But at least it was good drugs.
What choke jobs? A loss against the Oakland Raiders who had home field advantage in 2002 and went to the Super Bowl A loss to the Steelers because Brien missed TWO makeable FG's. Even still I pin this one on Herm and definitely NOT Chad. A loss against the Patriots who nearly ended up nearly beating the eventual SB Champs. This I will give you though, he did not play all that great but he was the reason we were in the playoffs that year.
What about the game we lost against the Redskins because Cotchery dropped a pass that would have put us in Fg position or the infamous Justin McDrops play against the Ravens. Chad was benched because he put himself there with Horrible play.
Honestly, I think you have to throw out the entire year, we were out of contention in early October, Penny was hurt in week 1, the OL was absolutely horrible, both Coles and Cotch missed numerous games....just a horrible season that we should all forget. I tell you one thing though, I would not be at all suprised to see the Jets take M Ryan if Gholston, Long and McFadden are gone when we are up. This scenario of those top three guys being off the board could easily happen. I would fully get behind M Ryan, whereas I have never ever had a good feeling about Clemens. Especially if we take a Ryan or Flacco I hope Penny wins because I honestly think he is a better QB than Clemens and can take this revamped team farther.
