Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson left no room for doubt Wednesday: He wants out of Cincinnati as fast as possible and he doesn't plan on reporting for any future Bengal function -- mandatory or voluntary. What spurred Johnson's immediate reaction was a statement made by quarterback Carson Palmer that indicated Johnson had told Palmer he would be at the team's mandatory minicamp in mid-June. Johnson said that wasn't true. "I want to make this very clear,'' Johnson said Wednesday. "I don't know where he got that. I made no assertion to Carson that I would do that. Nothing has changed from what I've been saying for three months that I don't want to play for the Bengals.'' Johnson made one of his strongest statements in saying he is not planning on reporting to any team functions because he wants to be traded. "I want to be traded before the draft, and if that doesn't happen, I want to be traded as soon as possible,'' Johnson said. "I don't intend on reporting to anything.'' Johnson is skipping the team's offseason workouts as he tries to push for a trade. But the Bengals have also made it clear that they have no plans of trading him. The Pro Bowl wide receiver said he was surprised by Palmer's comments about his possibly reporting to mandatory camp. "I wish he would stay out of my business,'' Johnson said.
Carson should have known better and not mentioned anything to do with Chad. As long as he isnt traded to us or someone in our division I hope he gets what he wants. Ive always liked him.
Cincy won't trade him and I love it. Let him rot on the bench. Talented guy, but he isn't in it for love of the game.
That would make him laugh. It hurts the team and not him. I think they should make him play special teams instead. Let him get beat to shit on every play.
I think a lot of guys love the game. Most guys that are athletic are good at most sports. Basketball and baseballs players make more money and don't pay nearly the price of a football player body. I'm willing to bet a few NFL stars gave up better bodies and more money to play football.
Chad doesn't realize that his mouth is killing his value. Who wants to trade for a live hand grenade? He's a really talented WR, but he wants a new deal as well as a new team. His public comments are going to make teams nervous about trying to deal for him and scared to death to give him any kind of big bonus.
I'm sure all NFL players love playing football. But if you offered any of them $1 Billion to never play again, they'd all take it. It's a job first and a passion second. Gotta pay them bills.
Well, I'd have to say everyone in the world would give something up for 1 billion dollars. I'm not even sure what we are discussing anymore. I know I don't want Ocho Fucko, but I will also say, I am not sure that the Jets could even afford him. We have spent big bucks and have a 6th round pick to sign. I'm not sure of the salary cap situation, although I am sure we are still below it, I'm not sure if we have room for a big WR contract. It's probably piss LC off even more as well.....
