This is not based on his opinions. Look at the articles in the papers today. They all report the Dyson signing. Both Lange and Cimini has it, yet CANNIZZARO is discussing only the preseason schedule. Sounds like someone mailed in their copy a little early huh? Maybe he had some Jetsoutsider.com obligations?
Even though we have disagreed in the past - especially regarding the NY - NJ stadium site thing - I have to agree with you 1000% on the ineptitude of Cannizzaro. He continues to show that he is/was a Herman Edwards-Cronie. He produces very little original Jet material since Herm and Bradway are gone. Yesterday's column was 50% Herman Edward's commenting on what Mangini needs to do to succeed in this town. Cannizzaro should take his act out to KC. Kudos to you for pointing that out. You are a very credible poster and rightful winner of the "most knowledgable poster" award. P.S. I still hope the Jets break this agreement with the Giants and the Meadowlands and return home to the eastern shores of the Hudson
First, before I defend Cannizzaro, I'll say that I do not think he is a good writer. However, stuff like this just astounds me. Cannizzaro has been the FIRST person to report EVERY major move this offseason. Yes, he was FIRST to report that herm was leaving, FIRST to report that the deal would be Herm for a 4th rounder, FIRST to report that Mangini was #1 on the jets list, FIRST to report that Mangini would be the coach and FIRST to report that Bradway would be replaced with Tannenbaum (I believe that espn got the abe trade). But yes, Cannizzaro beat the Daily News, Newsday, the Star Ledger, the Bergan Record and every national media outlet on all those stories. Yet, to show how classless jets fans are, jets fans hate the man for the sole purpose that he supported Herm. Jets fans love a certain Daily News writer that hops on and off every ban wagon available just so he can give the fans what they want. And what amazes me is that jets fans eat it up. But, even if you would rather a writer write what the majority believes instead of what he himself believes then fine. But how classless do you have to be to hate a reporter as a person and as a reporter just because you didn't agree with him on the herm situation? It's stuff like this that makes me ashamed to have to associate myself with the majority of jets fans. and ps, newsday, the star-ledger and all the other outlets with the exception of the daily news and bergan record didn't have it. Why can't I start a "Berger showing he is not a good reporter AGAIN" thread or a "Hutchinson showing he is not a good reporter AGAIN thread"
Actually, next time Cimini misses a story, I'm going to start a replica thread and watch hipocrisy in action.
Yeah I actually am. Or just someone that doesn't passionately hate a reporter because he is the first to report every story and becase he writes what he believes.
Pretty funny that you think Jets fans love Cimini. Other than Cannizzaro, he is probably the most hated Jets beat writer. And the reason Cannizzaro is so hated is because he allows his opinions to get into his reports. He doesn't write a column like Lupica, he shouldn't be putting his opinions into all of his stories. Of course, the fact that those opinions were unpopular with many Jets fans doesn't help, either.
i don't think it's so much hatred as................pointing out that the guy is inept, as a journalist.
I would've said that Cimini was hated last year but now he feeds the people what they want and I've heard nothing but compliments for him on here. I would agree with the last part. But, like I said, I don't think he's a good writer. However, that doesn't make him a bad reporter.
Well, Berger and Hutchinson didn't get the story in either. Does that make them inept as journalists?
Maybe he is not getting all the information leaked to him as before when Herm was in control. He might be frustrated with his current lack of a relationship with new era.JMO
Go for it.. Im not a cimini fan either. Cannizarro was definitely NOT the first to report all the crap you said with the exception of the Herm stuff since he had inside info.
Cannizarro isn't even the worst columnist for his paper. That award goes to Steve Serby, friggin clown, full of pessimism no matter what. I don't like a full homer, look at the sunshine side alot, I like my share of negative articles, but he takes it to an entire different level. Mike Vacarro is also an assclown.
i am applying for the job as Jets writer -- how do you not have the dyson signing in the paper??? sorry just sorry excuse
Cannizzaro reminds me of Alan Hahn, who writes about the Isles in Newsday. Michael Peca was his best source, all of his articles contained a lot of quotes from Peca and praised him pretty heavily. Then Peca got dealt and Yashin became the new leader of the clubhouse. Yashin doesn't like talking to Alan Hahn. So now all of his articles are ripping Yashin's leadership because he doesn't have any clue what's going on in the locker room anymore. Cannizzaro is the same way. Now that he can't write about Herm as coach of the Jets he writes about how Herm is no longer the coach of the Jets. Unfortunately for him far more people read him than Hahn and his act will get stale fast.
GASP! EcKo, man, I couldn't disagree more. Serby's writing is pure genius. The way he twists words into the goofy, cartoony, articles that he gives us. . . ahhh. . . such a decadent pleasure reading the guy's stuff. Unless, of course, he's trying to be serious with all the corny metaphors, silly phraseology, and dumb content. If that's the case, I'd wholly agree with you.
