That's all we ask for, chief. All of Yankees universe wanted Girardi. If Hank has the success of George,i'm not gonna complain. 6 rings,a SOX fan is going to tell me this will be a bad thing? As far as the youth vs signing vets,Hanks term so far has been the complete opposite regardless of who you think is responcible.
They have played in 39 world series in the past 86 years or once every 2.2 years. If YOU want to use the term "overwhelming dominance" then I guess it fits.
the shirt was removed yesterday. i think they should have left it. Rest Easy Superstitious Yankee Fans, the T-Shirt Has Been Removed Posted Apr 13th 2008 10:20AM by Josh Alper Filed under: Boston, New York, Red Sox, Yankees, MLB Gossip It seems that the long civic nightmare that was T-Shirtgate has finally come to an end. The Yankees finally admitted that there was a Red Sox jersey buried in the bowels of the new stadium and employed a team of jackhammers to find the offending garment yesterday. Hank Steinbrenner, in his inimitable style, denied the shirt's hex appeal shortly after calling in a construction team on a weekend to work for five hours to remove it. He also offered his thoughts about how to deal with Gino Castignoli, the hardhat who buried the thing in the first place. He didn't however, explain why something that preyed on superstitious silliness bothered him quite so much. "It's a bunch of bull- - - -," Hank said. I hope his coworkers kick the s- - - out of him." Castignoli may have learned his concrete burial skills from the acknowledged masters of the game. According to the New York Post, truly a shame that the Pulitzers have already been handed out this year, he pleaded guilty to involvement in a Gambino family gambling ring although he probably didn't testify for the prosecution, seeing as how he himself isn't wearing the cement boots. What have we learned from this ordeal? It's pretty easy to get Lil' Stein's goat, for one thing. Serving him a Boston cream pie would probably land you a broken nose and any Yankee employee coming to work with hosiery in the shade of crimson should expect a pink slip.
I hope they charged the construction company he works for for the expense.... then again, the way with the way ortiz is hitting maybe the jersey had the opposite effect...
Yanks unearth Sox jersey at new stadium By KAREN MATTHEWS ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER Frank Gramarossa, project executive for the new Yankee Stadium, removes a Boston Red Sox jersey with the name of player David Ortiz from the ground at the new Yankee Stadium in New York, Sunday, April 13, 2008. (AP Photo/Frances Roberts) NEW YORK -- So much for the curse. The New York Yankees have ended a construction worker's attempt to jinx their new stadium with a buried Boston Red Sox jersey. Team officials watched Sunday as construction workers removed the jersey, with slugger David Ortiz's name on it, from 2 feet of concrete in a service corridor of the stadium that's under construction. The team says a construction worker - who is a Red Sox fan - recently buried the jersey there while on the job. Two other supervisors found the tattered shirt Saturday. The Yankees plan to donate the jersey to charity, and may pursue a lawsuit against the construction worker.
You don't start a curse by some stupid Red Sox fan burying a t-shirt. You start one by taking it out and making a big fuss about it. If they pursue lawsuits, this may have potential.
This just screams pathetic to me, it's just a shirt. It's not like the floor was compromised by having the shirt there. "Let's waste money & time to make a spectacle of ourselves to get a t-shirt out of the concrete."
Who cares? He could of put a Rays shirt in for all I care. Yes it was stupid of him to put the shirt in but why bother digging it up?
Just so we don't have to listen to every Masshole after every loss say, "Ya see!!! It's fawking brilliant!!! We fawkin' own New Yawk!!!! Yankees suck!!!! Yankees Suck!!! Yankees Suck!!!!"*drinks lighter fluid and kicks girlfriend in the baby maker*
I saw the Papi jersey on the news this evening. Maybe I can still get use out of it and wipe my ass with it.
Why? They didn't have to dig it up. It wasn't going to compromise the foundation of the stadium. I find it funny how the Yank-mees people are taking this to ridiculous proportions! Using language like "Two heroic construction workers gave us a tip where the shirt was" HEROIC! bwahahahaha  This has turned into the funniest thing, but they didn't have to dig it up, so why should they charge the construction company or sue the construction worker.
I feel inferior to New Yorkers. We buried a damn T-shirt.......they buried Jimmy Hoffa. We have a ways to go.
You're right, it is ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as hearing for 80+ years about some curse that was causing your inept team's inability to beat the Yankees, rather than just the fact that, well, the team was inept. So I guess we're pretty much even now. BTW: The Boston fans who purchased Ruth's bat, then subsequently destroyed it, were considered heroes too.
The whole curse thing only started in 1980's. Only 20 or so years. And, who thought the people who bought Ruth's bat were considered hero's?
I really feel they should have left it there. Only a stupid ass Redsorx fan could do something like that and curse his own franchise for the life of the new Yankee stadium.
