What trade are you talking about? Where do you see us trading the 6th pick to the Broncos? You must be confusing us possibly receiving a 6th round selction for DRob. Besides in your scenerio trade with the Broncos, what are we receiving in return? You aren't suggestion we trade the 6th pick and Drob to move down to 12 in the draft are you? He isn't that bad. haha
My bad everyone. I misunderstood the OP. I don't know why I thought all this involved moving around in the 1st round. My apologies and disregard my previous post. :shit:
think he got the thread wrong there is another one I just read with a 1st round trade down with Broncos
wishful thinking. the broncos know that it's either they get him, or we cut him. guess they'd rather lose a 6th rdr, instead of someone else scooping him up once we cut him loose.
I think a lot of this comes from the fact some moron wrote an article saying the Jets may make a draft weekend deal with the Broncos involving Robertson. A lot of people here assumed somehow that would involve our #6 pick. I think it may happen but it would be a second day deal for a 5th, or 6th even up swap if the Broncos don't already get what they want in previous rounds.
It really doesn't matter what if anything they get for Robertson - it's more important to get out from under his contract at this point...
if we get a fourth we could pair that with the 2nd and move back into the bottom of the first if theres a good player there.like brandon flowers or kenny phillips
Take into account a few things... 1. Denver has a new GM who isnt well known in the league so he can be taken advantage somewhat 2. Most Dts in this offseason have gotten teams a 3rd and 5th round pick. With all of this said, I can defintely see a 5th round pick going to us. And if so, thats a bargain as Denver picks very high in the 5th round.
I think the Jets should and will stick to their guns for a 4th round pick. If it is a 5th, their will be a conditional stipulation for 2009, which DRob will likely meet. Either way it's a win. (only due to his contract....guy can still play)
The broncos may not want to get too cute. If we cut Drob he goes to the highest bidder and the broncos don't have that much $.
Just thought I'd add this article from Scout.com Jets close to dealing D-Rob to Denver By John Murphy Posted Apr 11, 2008 According to several league sources, the NY Jets are close to acquiring two of the five draft choices the Denver Broncos currently possess between the fourth-and-sixth round in what would breakdown to basically a sign-and-trade deal for former first-round defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson. The Broncos will need to sign Robertson to a new deal prior to the draft in order to allow the trade to be completed. The Broncos have picks #108 and #119 in the fourth, as well as #139 and #148 in the fifth and #183 in the sixth round. Dealing Robertson would save the Jets about $8 million as he currently is scheduled to count $11 million against the team's cap. http://nyj.scout.com/2/745433.html
