Because if your head coach tells his players to lay down and lose for draft position, then he is as stupid as you and should be fired from life.
I dont think anyone expcted Mangini to tell players to throw the game..or that anyone wanted players to not try. But I think he's referencing the fans on TGG that were ADAMANT that we win that game. It gave us no edge for the future and may cost us an elite prospect.
Then for the next ten years we have to cry because we got the lesser of the two DE/Olb, because Gholston would be better just because he will be on New England.
I have no doubt Gholston will be a better pass rusher, but Harvey will probably be a better all-around OLB in the 3-4 than him (ie better vs. the run and in coverage) due to his much more fluid hips. I think they're both going to be very good in this league for a long time.
I am sure crazy Al would pass on Rhodes, Harris, Cotchery, Coles, Leon, Mangold, Brick, Faneca, Revis:rofl:
Rashad Mendenhall. After Thomas Jones falls apart we'd still have a bulldozer to compliment Washington.
Then I think we'd want to entertain trade-down offers. Add another 2nd rounder and take a lower 1st rounder......but there may not be too many teams willing to make a deal if this happens.
Not to mention the fact that there really is no real benefit to the Jets for having lost that game. There are 4 players that will help the Jets early in the draft. Long,,,,,small chance he will be there. Most likely will be taken 1 or 2. The loss makes no difference. McFadden.......I'm not crazy about him, but a lot of people are 50-50 he will be there at 6 Gholston........Might go early but I think he will be there at 6 Harvey.........Same thing. IMO Gholston and Harvey are about equal in potential. I give the nod to Harvey, but I won't be heart broken if they take Gholston. One of these guys will be there at 6. All of them help the Jets right now. I have no problem with the win against KC. There are also a few CB's that would help the Jets. but 6 is to early to take them.
I don't buy that for a minute, Kurt. He's been whining that we won the game, not that people wanted us to win that game.
If that happens... we trade down to mid first round and pick up jonathan stewart and a WR int he second round...totally ok with that
Lets see with Raiders secondary and depth. Do you see the Raiders wanting Revis or Rhodes? NOpe. Harris would be a backup on the Raiders. Again the Point is Jets don't have that many talented players , to begin with. They aren't getting rid of the few they have. again it would have to be for draft picks.
If we take Ryan and he turns into a great QB for us it would be the absolute best possible draft scenario. It will improve us more than anyone else we can take.
It is now. Like Mark MCguire said what in the past , should remain in the past. All we can do is look to the future. You think anyone going to remember the past five years, if the Raiders win three straight championships. I know Im not.
