Im under 35 and think he will be a bust. I want an all around back I dont think he can take a hit and in the nfl he will get hit alot that 4.27 speed is nice but game speed it different. Ive seen his highlight reels on youtube and watched two of his games last season as well. He is a great college player i think he will be a bust or at least a average player.
I am a HUGE Bama fan and I witnessed DMC carry 6 guys an extra 5 yards. He vitrually, got the hogs close by himself.
Because some people over think everything and try so hard to avoid player hype that they convince themselves highly talented players are in fact overrated and average. If you hear it from this board, McFadden, Gholston and Matt Ryan will all be busts without question.
I am unwilling to label Reggie Bush as a bust at this point. I like to give guys three seasons before I label them as a bust unless they play absolutely hideous football in their first or second season or don't even play at all such as the Saints 2007 1st round draft pick. Bush has made positive contributions to the Saints, especially in 2006.
What do you all the fans of DMAC have to say of his off the field incidents? The nightclub incidents and what about the 3 kids with 4 different women or is it 4 with 4 or 2 with 2. If he is that bad down in Arkansas what do you think will do in NY with all the big lights and the NY press coverage of a number 6 pick
Keep'em talking About US! I have been a Jets since 82 (yes I'm over 35) and one of the most frustrating things about being a fan is all the negative reaction to the possibilities that we are presented with. I mean Jet fan is never fucking happy(not all). I mean my year was made when the Pats lost the Super Bowl, everything else is just gravy. And Damn what great gravy Tangini is preparing for us this year. Granted we want to pick smart and keep building for the future but there are also intangible benefits to picking DMAC. I can't remember the last time we were presented with picking the most exciting offensive player in the draft. If we have the opportunity to pick DMAC at 6th, hell yeah we take it! I want Jets Coverage 24/7 during the preseason. I want everyone to be talking about US! and not the Pats, Colt or whatever other team that I could care less about. I want all the speculation that will go with it. And if he's a BUST so be it at least we'll all benefit as fans to know we got the perceived most exciting player in this years draft and that WE WILL be the focus come this Year. Finally, drafting a possible Adrian Peterson--shit I'll take that all Day! I want J-E-T-S all the time!
Last time I checked there was no crime for having children w/ any number of women. And if history repeats itself based on Wilt Chamberlin, Magic Johnson, Shawn Kemp,Joe Namath and Ben Coates sex lives....we're in for one helluva player.
As expected, 6-foot-1, 211-pound McFadden also looked strong during an extensive position drill workout. Perhaps more importantly, we talked to four scouts and not one of them has an ounce of concern about McFadden's character. This is a good sign, as it comes after teams have done their due diligence in investigating his off-the-field incidents. One of the scouts we spoke with went as far as to say McFadden has elite football character, meaning he is a tough player and an excellent teammate. http://www.nylandingstrip.com/
No but it is a char issue I would have problems with as a GM it is bad PR the news would have more fun talking about that then any game stats he might have I grew up watching Magic and Kemp and I remember most about them is the sex stories not the games its the stuff that sticks in peoples minds.
I would just love to know how he has 3 kids with 4 different women. That would have to be in Ripleys. Doesn't Travis Henry have 12 with 12 BTW? So it really isn't even worth commenting on.
Larry (Grandmama) Johnson and Derrick Thomas are others. Also, Terry Metcalf was 15 when he got his lady friend pregnant. Terry and his son Eric were close enough in age to have both played NFL football in the 1980s.
No, I'm not overthinking it. Hell, I'm pretty much the only person questioning McFadden's on-field play. I'm not even playing devil's advocate here, jeez. Remember when Glen Dorsey was hands down the best player in the country? Then we heard about some knee condition and he dropped off the face of the earth. Newsflash: Glen Dorsey always was and still is the best player in the country. Hell, the knee injury issues have now been dismissed by pro scouts both in the short term and long term. Additionally, McFadden wouldn't have had a chance at the Heisman if it weren't for Dixon getting injured and when I say he lacks power I don't mean that he's never trucked some guys, that's just ridiculous to say. Do you remember this guy, however? He was known in football for, among other things like leaping ability, his hands and his character, was his power. The first thing he said after his first contact NFL practice? "These guys hit HARD." What did he mean? Well, this power back couldn't truck shit in the NFL at first and still can't. He can absorb and dish out punishment, pushing around defensive backs easily and he can, on occasion, clear out a linebacker, but he is not nearly the power back that he was in college. Do you really honestly think, even for an instant, that Darren McFadden can take the punishment of an every down back in the NFL? I honestly don't and it pisses me off that stronger (and thus in my view, better for the role) primary backs like Rashard Mendenhall and Jonathan Stewart get no love from the media or the general populace. Heheh. That never stops being funny.
All reports from his pro day state that the guy's character is not a concern and although yes, he has made some retarded decisions up to this point (condoms?), he's a top notch teammate and a student of the game with a desire to do everything it takes to win. All this BS about him going down on the first hit is being blown way the hell out of proportion. I'm sure many people on here have only seen highlights, which only show his big yardage around the outside and untouched through the middle. However, the guy is strong and up a clogged middle, he pulls defenders with him. My only real concern is his fumbles, and with an NFL RB coach, those should go away. Don't forget that Tiki had the fumbles for the Giants way back when and was able to get fixed somewhat easily. Anyway, I'm not going to keep rambling since I've pretty much just regurgitated what Kurt, bama, and others have said. I'm 20 and if McFadden's on the board and you can't trade down, you take the man and be happy to finally have a true playmaker on the offense.
I am calling it now. McFadden will be a bigger bust than Reggie Bush STATISTICALLY. I say statistically because Bush does things for the NO offense that doesnt necessarily show tangibly. He demands coverage and opens up the options for the offense as a unit. HIS BIGGEST CONTRIBUTION is his presence. That may seem stupid but its bigger than people think. Take him off the field and its a different offense. McFadden will bring neither of the two. I just have a strange gut feeling that hes doing to equate to nothing. BTW I'm 22
I'll bet you predicted the same for Adrian Peterson last year, right? Most of the people here did. I'm sure you must have been one of them.
