Well you can make an argument that the pats havent taken the BPA in a while (mankins, merriweather) But it's a different story when you have a top 10 pick
Add to that the fact that Maroney is developing well and whereas he had no power, less vision and no eyebrows year 1, he turned into a very good running back later in the season last year. Watch 2006 Maroney vs. 2007 Maroney. There is a huge difference. If there is that much of a difference between 2007 Maroney and 2008 Maroney, I will cry. And it isn't "oh the other teams were defending the pass" or some other lame excuse. Watch him play. Watch what he does when there's no hole, or it closes up in front of him. The kid is getting damned good, and I don't have a problem saying that, even if he plays for the fricking Pats.
The picture in my avatar has been there for a couple of weeks... It is small and tough to make out-- but its McFadden and his gansta mobile.... We can meet with a bunch of people, but it can be all posturing. Parcells did it all the time- being a liar when it comes to draft day. I'd expect the same out of Mangini, talk to everyone in the top 10, so that no one knows who we are going to pick. I still don't want him on the team, but if he gets drafted- he better be a 6 time pro bowler and win 2 rushing titles.
As opposed to somebody who will never reach the pro bowl and maybe never finish in the top 5 for the rushing title?
Draft Ellis instead. Both project well to 4-3 NT's or 3-4 DE's. However, Ellis doesn't have the health issues that Dorsey comes with. Please... No more health questions in the 1st round. Badway makes a pick like that, hopefully the new FO will not.
I totally agree. I see DMC primarily being used a lot in the slot to create mismatches against himself or causing the same with one of our WR's. His use in the backfield can also be used for disception. He should be good on sweeps. I expect he will help. I expect he will have some very exciting plays during the year. I still fully expect TJ to carry he load.
While I'm orgasmic at the idea of Ellis/Dorsey and Robertson playing End opposite one another, that would probably result in us playing more of a pressure defense. Change in scheme normally causes some problems. And only some if you're lucky. I love pressure defenses and mixed coverages, dictating the game for the offense. Tell them that they can only run to one spot and only pass to one spot. They have to guess each time. You don't even need superior athletes, just brute strength. Pull an 86' Giants and abuse the other team so badly that they give up. Everyone loves smashmouth football; except the opposing team.
I don't think either project to 3-4 DEs. At least nowhere I have seen. They aren't fast enough. Both will make good 4-3 DTs though. I think they are of no use to us at all. We have a 4-3 DT we are trying to trade already. The cost of somebody at #6 is way too expensive to take a chance.
As if that's something unusual in this day in age; not just in sports either. It's the overindulgent world of our society nowadays. How's he different than most other athletes today?
If Mcfaddenn doesn't make it in football he can always run as a politician for NY or NJ - He's already pre-certified
That car is fucking sweet. I want gholston or long to but you guys really shouldn't be hating this hard on the kid. he is fucking sick at football. He could be an NFL star for the next ten years. His upside is unbelievable seriously..
If he visits New York – I hope he is able to get in and out of the city without knocking up any bitches.
I've honestly never met a 20 year old with 4 babies with 4 different moms. I'm sure they exist, but I'd rather not know them, or draft them in the 1st round.
Defenses are getting faster and faster. Speed rules in the NFL. To NOT draft McFadden if we have the opportunity, to counter the obvious trend of speed, would be foolish. We've drafted enough Dlineman in the 1st round this decade to hold me over a lifetime. And Pace/Jenkins is enough of an upgrade. Thomas Jones, though quietly picking up over 1,000 last year, has still not impressed me enough. Plus, he's already 30.
Taking a player at a position where you have plenty of depth when you are lacking in depth and starters in so many other areas is not exactly the 'perfect position' for luxury picks in my opinion.
Here are the things that make DMAC so intriguing: 1. Based on the consensus of how things will go on draft day..unless Gholston is there, he's the BPA at # 6. 2. As someone else stated, speed kills in today's NFL...Dmac has freakish speed. 3. People would prefer a power back...but isn't a well known fact that most nfl FO's prefer speedy/elusive type backs b/c for one, they offer more of a big play element, but more importantly they take less hits which furthers their career length? 4. People keep referring to our RB depth chart...but we're T Jones is one knee injury away at his age, from putting us in a major whole at RB. Leon Washington and Chatham will not cut it as starters long term 5. Dmac is versatile, which would allow us to use him in alot of different ways. He'd also be a great change of pace back to TJ Face it, value wise DMac fits our # 6 pick, and also he adds ALOT to the current offensive roster.
