It would be a great boost to our TE core. Could be a really solid pickup that lasts for a while.

Very nice player I loved out of Minnesota. Soft hands, good routes, great size. A rich man's Anthony Becht.

I think people are continuing to underestimate Pennington. Count me as one of the people who thought he was done last year, but he really seemed to suffer from that ankle injury. I'm not totally sold on Clemens, and I don't believe he earned anything last year. I'd like to see him really impress before I simply hand him the job. I believe that Pennington, with an improved run game and a defense that can stop people can still win some football games.

Utecht was also the backup punter and long snapper for Indy. Oh, and he plays special teams too. Mangini's kind of guy. I bet we make an offer. I guess he would play H-back here as well. Another big blocker for our new running game.

Nice. I could see some real nice 4 wide sets in the redzone. A signing like this would allow them to focus on a true burner at WR in the draft, and those can be had in the middle rounds.

Lets get Sapp out of retirement ;)

On a serious note though, I hope the Jets are able to part ways with D-Rob soon so we can open up some cap and sign a TE like Utecht and then have enough to sign the #6 pick, whoever that may be.

I don't "love" him. I think he'd be a good number two option at tight end. The guy's been over shadowed by one of the best receiving tight ends in the game.

I like how you say that I love him, yet you know almost everything about him. Awesome.

Why don't you go get a hand job from one of his "stone hands"?

I'll leave the homosexuality to you....since Utecht is your boy and all....not surprising that you like the "Tight Ends"....not surprising at all.

But thanks for coming out though, fruitcake.

Dallas Clark was hurt alot last year though and Utecht put up really solid numbers. He could def handle the load as the starting tight end.

Why is everyone saying that Utecht has stone hands? It is COMPLETELY untrue. All the scouting reports of him from the year he was supposed to be drafted, he went undrafted though, say he is known for his soft hands, and good blocking. He has improved a lot as a blocker and become one of the better blocking TEs in the league, but just because he is a solid blocker, does not mean he has bad hands.

For further proof of this: http://ind.scout.com/2/706647.html

Utecht is an overall solid TE, good blocker, tall, good hands, and could start on many teams. He would be a great pickup for us, and like a poster said previously, would allow us not only to improve the TE position, but look strictly for a burner-type WR, because we can use our TEs (Baker and Utecht) as redzone threats, rather than getting a big, tall wideout.
