Are the Browns playing a 4-3 or 3-4 this year? Trying to understand why he feels Jenkins will struggle to adapt to a new scheme but doesn't bother bringing it up in regards to Rogers.

Don Banks should be fired for this article - because it shows once and for all - clearly - that the guy is 100% biased AGAINST the Jets. I could imagine him praising some other team for the exact same moves the Jets made...but because it's the Jets - he dogs us.

Banks is one of my least favorite sportswriters...

So Cleveland, who did what we did- just as aggressively and acquired the same personnel.. including the always questionable Shawn Rogers.... and they get a thumbs up??? Bullshit...

We all know the PB doesn't mean alot. Guys get voted in on reputation after they make a couple. I am completely confident in faneca but I wouldn't use PB's to justify his accomplishments.

Don Banks = Todd McShay. Two hacks attempting to sound credible. Nice try.

TJ will have a bounce back year? Bounce back from a 1,000yd year? Granted that TJ's feat hasn't really been trumpeted as that....a feat. I'd like to see what other backs in the league can gain that much running behind that line. Maybe one or two RB's but not more.

The comment on Jenkins? There's less to learn playing the 3-4 NT spot because the main thing is to occupy blockers and be stout at the point-of-attack. There's very little call for penetration and if there was it would be accompanied by a stunting ILB on either of his side. Jenkins' issue with being "too heavy" would be more of a benefit than a detriment to a certain point. So long as he's not huffing and puffing at the end of each play, he should be alright. Add to that a rotation between him and Pouha and he may just be fresher in the 4th quarter that he ever has been in Carolina.

Vilma a wasted talent? Well he is a great talent and he will be missed in the locker room if not on the field. He was a positive influence on the younger players. But with a degenerative knee condition, being miscasted in the system and an being impending free agent with little interest of re-signing, the move to trade him, structured as it is, is an intelligent one. It basically comes down to us using the Saints 4th round pick for a year and exchanging it for either a 3rd or a 2nd come next year. What's not to like about that?

On Coles. Has it ever occurred to Mr. Banks that no offer being made now doesn't necessarily mean no offer will be made later? What if the FO wants to finish shopping first before they can figure out just how much space under the cap they can spare to pay Coles? I bet that the FO realizes its mistake from last year with Kendall and not repeat it again this year. Signing Coles to an accepteable extension would obviously impact the perception by the other players especially when it comes time to sign Rhodes and Baker.

As for the QB quandry, who wouldn't have had the same issue with an offensive line that's so offensive to the football sensibilities of the die-hard fans? That issue too will be alleviated with the revamped OL.

What a schmuck this guy is and you're right.....HE IS A CHEATRIOT HOMER!

    Huh?

The jets needed a DT and an upgrade at OL. How is that not sensible?

Again does it really matter what some douchebag writer says about the Jets. If just 50% of the moves work out the Jets will be 10 times better off then last year.

I think the number will be 75% (JUST USING THE BIG 4 SIGNINGS) as a guess as I hate the Woody signing and think it has the most likelihood of busting.

As much as we want to bash any writer for questioning the Jets at all he does have points.

-Jones had over 1,00 yds but had 1 TD and avreaged 3.6 YPC. That's not very good.

-Vilma was wasted talent, he was a top LB in the league in a 4-3 and we ruined that.

-I don't think Jenkins will have a problem BUT we just went through a situation where Robertson was a good 4-3 DT and not a good 3-4 NT. Jenkins has more size but it is a legit question.

Well said. The Jets moves fit perfectly into their philosophies and weaknesses.

    pick your headlines:

2007: jets suck for not doing more in FA, end up going 4-12
2008: jets suck for doing too much in FA, end up going 12-4

    i'll take the 2008 headlines.

if we picked up all these guys in the draft (instead of FA), plus either fad/ghol, we'd be hearlded as having the best draft class of the entire NFL.

and the money part is totally irrelavent provided we can still re-sign our homegrown talent like KR and LC.

we did good boys, we did good.

PS: i think tanny reads TGG. every player we've bashed has been cut, and every hole we've identified has been filled. maybe there really is no man behind the green curtain. mayby woody reads TGG every morning with his coffee and scones, then picks up the phone.
