Patriots | Team talking with Poteat Thu, 6 Mar 2008 20:47:20 -0800 Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports the New England Patriots are talking with free-agent CB Hank Poteat (Jets) about the possibility of him signing with the team. No official visit has been scheduled.
I would assume we didnt try to resign Poteat because hes not any good- I wouldnt worry about this- I trust Mangini
He started for us last year so he has to be better than the rest of the bunch. Miller, Barret, & Coleman are no better.
I think solid is actually a very good word to describe him. He's a solid player, that personally i would have liked to have seen back.
Interesting, I could have sworn that I saw he resigned with us for one year before FA started. I guess not and surprisingly I feel alot better about our secondary with him in it than without him. He is not flashy by any means but he has definetly been solid for us.
Yea Im sure every Sunday your eyes are focused on Hank Poteat. Dont try to claim that you have any idea about Poteat's ability. Now if you go to games every Sunday and scout Poteat, thats a different story. Anyway, Mangini is suppposed to be a defensive minded head coach and coached defensive backs in New England. If we're not trying to bring back Poteat, its either because Mangini thinks hes no good or because were gonna take care of the position at the draft. Either way, theres no good reason to be worrying about Hank Poteat.
Hank has played well for us the last couple of years, this would be a little bit of a blow if we didn't re-sign him.
The fact that Belichick wants this guy back tells me something....he was solid for us last year. A late bloomer in the NFL, we need to sign him.
The only CB outside of DR that was pretty reliable.... there is talks and no meetings yet-- giving us plenty of time to talk and meet and sign him before anyone else... i imagine he'd come back because he has a better chance to start, to this date.
I'm not so sure about that. The Pats lost a few corners (Gay, Samuels) this offseason and have replaced them with scrubs. Poteat, at this point, would have a very real chance of starting for the Pats.
