A contract extension for Rhodes, there is no way we can afford to lose our best and most athletic player at this point. All these FA deals are great but I really hope we didn't screw ourselves throwing money around to the point where we can't lock up Rhodes for a long time. He's also probably going to want a lot more moolah now that the team has been spending money so freely this offseason. I really hope we still have the money to keep him in green and white for a long time.

I saw the title of this post and I was pissed. Then I opened it and agreed 100%. People- with the defense we have now, I assure you Kerry Rhodes will only increase in value. We need to sign him before the season starts. As I see it, we have three options: 1) Sign him now for a reasonable, long-term contract. 2) Sign him after the season for the highest safety contract in NFL history. 3) Trade him after this year. Fuck your franchise tag. I hope the Tangini never use that bastard tag. I want my Jets to have roots in New York. I want their children to know what school they'll graduate from. I want my Jets HAPPY. And Kerry Rhodes is definitely one of my Jets.
If we really have a pass rush and we can stop the run just imagine how much better Revis/Rhodes will be?
I can't blame anyone worried about losing Rhodes. The JETS history of Letting talented youth go because they want more money is pathetic. Even if they actually DESERVE it.
