I only heard the last two minutes after i saw the link here. I'm paraphrasing: Rome- so, you were killing it in the 4-3, then mangini comes in and switches schemes, you struggle with it, and everyone wants to know how you feel about it, him, etc... JV- The New york media is very good at stirring things up and asking questions that try to create friction. I had a good relationship with mangini, and we always talked about how to make the defense better. The reporters were always asking me, "why dont you have 168 tackles like you did in the 4-3". It was always them asking the same thing. They like to stir things up, and the NY media is the best at doing that. Rome- What about you not using the team Dr. and having your Sx done by your own doctor. JV- Dr. uribe had operated on my knee before, in 2001 I believe, and he is a good doctor. I felt real comfortable with him. The team had no problem with me going to him, but the reporters always made it seem like it was another friction thing between me and the team. Not so. Rome- How are you with going back to the 4-3 with the Saints JV- I am looking forward to it a lot. Rome- have you spoken to your new coach? JV- yes, a few times. I thought he did a good job and the team showed a lot of character after starting out 0-4. they didnt pack it in and end up 1-15. they sucked it up and rebounded and I congratulated him for doing that. That's all i remember. I only caught the tail end.
Sounds like Vilma is being classy as usual. Say what you want about his playing, but you can't knock his character. He is an easy guy to root for.
Vilma is real classy guy man. I definitely love that dude in a non-gay way. He really was a defensive QB FWIW and it's great to see that he got along great with Mangini.
