Yea honestly, We have an elite core of defense players in Harris, Revis, Rhodes/An extremely touch cast of offensive leaders in Coles, Cotchery, Thomas Jones/Elite special teamer in Leon Washington/Legendary combination of Tannenbaum and Mangini- Why wouldnt any player want to play here?

Theres nothing more frustrating than Jets fans who dont understand how great the state of Jets affairs finally is. I swear this isnt homerism, We are one of the top 5 organizations in the NFL (no one knows it except the die hards and certain people within the organization). 2008 will make everyone around the league show some respect.

Faneca was pissed off because his coach and buddy Russ Grimm got the job and then had it taken from under him when the league pressured the Steelers on the Rooney rule.

The reality is these guys are just looking to get paid. They have every right to make a stink if they want. I don't begrudge these guys that, but they have to accept the consequences. The teams have just as much right to fight back. It's part of the game. As long as it stays above the belt, I don't have problem.

Jets | Faneca story a false report?
    Fri, 29 Feb 2008 16:19:24 -0800

Contradicting previous reports, Tom Rock, of New York Newsday, reports unrestricted free-agent OG Alan Faneca (Steelers) has not agreed to a deal with the Jets, according to his agent, Rick Smith. Rock reportedly spoke with Smith and Smith confirmed that the story of Faneca agreeing to a four-year deal with the Jets is false.

Faneca wants to get the money and be on a winner -- in that order.

He will get to both with the NYJ.

i goto school 60 miles south of pittsburgh and we get the pittsburgh media, the only year he has been outspoken was this past year because he wanted to be taken care of for his 10 years of loyalty to the steelers, they didnt take care of him, to say he is outspoken is false, media accessible maybe, but not outspoken....he is getting a guarenteed deal to a new york city team that plays hard and with its recent actions looks like its committing themselves to putting together a championship team within 5 years

Assuming he's signed, still not official as of 11 PM Friday, he will help fill the gaping hole that Tangini ripped into the left side last summer. When someone punches a hole in your car tire with a knife do you then applaud them when they come back and patch the hole?

The FO is responsible for the loss of Kendall and ruining the 2007 season; fixing their mistake today is the LEAST they could do.

You criticize Faneca for being outspoken yet it's FO's fault Kendall was mouthy and was traded.

Its a fair question to ask though- Is Faneca leaps and bounds better than Kendall? I guess it doesnt matter that much, it seems like Tannnenbaum realizes that he messed up with that whole situation and will learn from it.

Yes. leaps and bounds. While Faneca has been to 6 pro bowls, is bigger and 3 years younger than Kendall. Its not even close.

Faneca had never been a outspoken person till last year when the steelers refused to give him a long term contract that other players at his position, without his skill, had received.

Sour is rihgt about assuming he has signed though. The report is still up on ESPN but several others are saying its not done. time will tell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow he will be a Jet.

I'm not so sure on that one; I for one wouldn't have given the deal to Kendall for 1) he's very old 2) he just got his money less than a season ago.

Faneca is also on the wrong side of 30, but he's still younger (4 years?) and you can expect him to be highly productive till he hits 35. Now, is he leaps and bounds better? That remains to be seen, since he's going to have to adapt to the schemes here. I think he's much better option than Kendall will ever be though.

Kendall was old, and yet he still helped the Redskins get to the playoffs last year. Not so old, huh.

Consider this...what if the Jets gave Kendall the paltry $1million (he was promised) last year. Now instead of repatching a hole on the left side, we'd have Faneca to add to the right side and we'd be one RT short of a very good line.

Exactly. Not an "outspoken" guy by far. He was never one to run his mouth in the press until his contract was coming due, and then, even when pissed about the way the team treated him, he came to play every down. He is definitely a Mangini guy.
