I can deal with that, not bad... Not bad at all...

    You know what this means?

    Robertson is getting traded

That is precisely what I think, too. I think it is now a near lock. I bet the deal hits by he end of the day or over the weekend.

I think this means they are planning on playing Sione at NT and Jenkins at END. Sione stepped up at the end of the last season and Mangini loved it. Either way I think there will be a nice rotation going on throughout the D-line....good work FO!

I am 99% sure Jenkins is here to play NT. Pouha is his backup. Coleman and Ellis are the best 3-4 DE's on our roster, and not starting one of them would be silly.

All it means is that the FO likes Pouha enough they want to have him on the team for a few years. Chances are they think he might be able to start now or some day. He still has a lot to prove as far as holding up for a large number of plays, but I think he and Jenkins could be a force inside. If Pouha emerges to the point where we can start, push Jenkins outside, and we're that much better. Will that happen? I wouldn't count it out by any stretch, he still hasn't played a whole lot of NFL football, and the FO seems to have confidence in him.

I agree Jenkins is definetly not here for the DE i don't think that we would have traded that much if it was just for an upgrade at DE

All we need to do is draft Gholston and our defensive line is set. And well have above average backups in Piouha and Coleman. Above average defensive line next season. We just need to find a cornerback opposite Revis and well have an elite secondary as well as an elite D line.

This means they like him but not enough to start him and he will go in to blow Jenkins, I mean, to give Jenkins a blow.

Who would Coleman be backing up? Gholston is going to play SOLB, not DE.

Yep, and Mosley will battle it out with some new guy for the third string spot.

If McFadden AND Gholston are off the board @ #6... I trade down 3 or 4 spots and draft K.Phillips, Call me crazy... But I may even draft K.Phillips at #6if McFadden, Gholston, Both Longs and Dorsey are all off the board, I take K.Phillips. Rhodes and Phillips would be amazing with Revis as our #1 CB

First of all, I heard that Phillips did not do well at the combine.

Second, I think he is OVERRATED. And you know how I feel about my Canes.

I thought that if we got Gholston, he'd play WOLB? So we could move Brian Thomas back to SOLB? Someone please clarify.

I think its unclear if Gholston would play defensive end or linebacker. But im assuming they would try to have him play end, considering we have a big need for a premier defensive end that will get to the quarterback and free up Ellis to regain his form.

I think he played 4-3 DE in college, and everything I've seen said he'd play OLB in 3-4.

W, S, I always get confused with those, but my point was just to clarify that Gholston would be playing OLB, not DE.

We play the 3-4 now, not the 4-3. The DE's are meant to eat blockers and move the pocket, it's the OLB's that rush the QB, which is what Gholston would play if we drafted him.

Other way around. Brian Thomas is a good speed rusher (Read: WOLB) and did well there in 2006. We had a power rusher (Hobson) on the strong side. That's how things are normally done. This year the two switched sides, shenanigans ensued. He was at SOLB this season and didn't do well. Gholston would be the strong side linebacker that Bryan Thomas needs to return to the weak side and back to top form. Bryan Thomas is our Shawn "The Other Guy" Phillips. He's the one that quietly puts up the same numbers while not being nearly as flashy because he is more of a cover and support man and is better suited to speed rushing than anything else.
