I'd be against grabbing a QB in rd one (unless Cutler or Young fall to 29)

I think we look good in FA, so they may very well be able to grab the best athletes. And you can never have enough good linemen.

Jones was shaky because he's young. He got owned here and there but at least he's got the year under his belt now. Maybe with off-season conditioning and training he can develop into the RT we expected. We need to give him at least this season under Mangini and Company.

What would prompt you to embrace that opinion? I'm not picking on your opinion but I'd really like to know why some feel it's not time to select a QB. I scratch my head over this, I truly do. In fact, I've even tried to come up with legitimate answers myself, none of which make very much sense:

We don't need to draft a QB this year because:

    1) Chad will become 100% whole and will throw better than he ever did and prove he's our franchise QB by throwing deep and remaining 100% healthy, even though he's coming off two very, very serious injuries.
    2) Ramsey is our answer for the future. All he needs is time under Mangini and away from the Redskins, which is the only reason he hasn't blossomed.
    3) We can draft a QB next year. The prospects will be better and although we may not have a high draft pick, we can always bundle picks and trade up, giving away multiple picks in '07 and even some in '08 and thereby cripple our ability to infuse future talent by limiting our number of picks.
    4) We'll pick up some QB along the way, some retread who was cut by some other team and we'll somehow make him the greatest franchise QB any team could ask for.
    5) Brooks Bollinger will suddenly grow 3" and gain 30 lbs. of muscle and become the next Dan Marino.

Of course we need QB and I would be fine taking any one of the top 3 at #4 or if we have someone in mind further down that would be great also. The idea that we don't need another QB is ridiculous. We only don't need a QB if were planning on being bad for a long time.

We have 3 QB's currently on the roster, 2 of which will be competing for the start, which ramsey will win. Give Ramsey one year to see if he's the real deal, if he's a dud, then draft a QB in 07.

You know, just thinking off the top of my head, Tangini took a shot at Schaub (UVA) in the JAbe deal, and they just signed Monsanto Pope (UVA). So, Mangini must like what he's seeing in UVA players, given that Groh has coached those guys and he is off the Parcells/Belicheck tree. All this is to say that he might be high on D'Brick given his UVA pedigree. And D'brick is the one name you see less associated with the Jets in the press than anyone.

That said, I want to draft Mario at 4. I'd take D'Brick or Cutler at 4. I would never trade up for Leinart, but would take him if he fell to 4.

Drafting Mike Haight would piss me off...again. Or Lam Jones, for that matter. Soory I'm scarred and bitter.

I'd be cool with Roger Vick or Ron Faurot, though.

I don't want the Jets to take Cutler. But I want D'Brick to be the next Walter Jones for the Jets.

I will be ticked right off if we trade up. Too many holes to fill to trade up.
