Based on the fact that the Jets have incredibly jacked ticket prices again after a miserable season, I do believe they're ready to drop big money on targets like Faneca and Samuels. I don't know that they'll succeed. Mangini's and the Jets' rep may come back to haunt them when the doors open on Black Friday in the NFL. I think the "green" will be there, I just worry that these guys have sullied themselves with their public hair-pulling contests with vets like Kendall and others. The referendum starts on Friday.
BS dude..Free agents go where they get the most money..period..end of story..Show me where one FA turned down the most money to go some where else.. Its all about the cheddar!!
Mangini's reputation always is hanging in the balance depending on what happens in the next 15 minutes.
Thats funny dude..I bet Mangini gives those FA's the straight talk..How hard it is at camp..how demanding it is playing for the NYJ's. No BS just the straight dope.
Yep...Thomas could have made alot more had he signed with San Fransisco...but he chose NE. Not all players are money hungry pricks who'll quibble over a few extra million.
its simple, they will drop a ton of money this year because they got cocky last year, they thought they were untouchable and let Kendall go and made no changes.....they added through the draft, but they signed half-ass FA's cause they thought it wouldnt matter, they could coach them up...the core they thought they had wasnt as good as they thought it would be
F**k that their record would have been the same with or without Kendall..I was thrilled they got rid of that loud mouth pr**k. Randy didn't have a lot of choices did he and most teams don't have Tom Brady.
...you just proved our point. Moss took less money to go to New England...because they are a good team, with one of the best quarterbacks of all-time. Our running game would've been a little better with Kendall, and I doubt we would've given up as many sacks. Adrien Clarke is almost got Kellen Clemens killed.
dont be so quick to say that...that situation caused alot of problems for the team.....first, the line got considerably worse, obviously...but other players seeing a respected teammate get treated like that?...that lowered team moral and made players question the regime...also, apparently, he was big in the locker room and very helpful with the young guys, he was the glue and when he left, it came undone...and my point in the first place, was that it showed how Mangini and Mike T. thought they could still win with anyone...
Eric Mangini: Excuse me, Alan? Alan Faneca: Yes? What is it, Eric? Eric Mangini: I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. Alan Faneca: Excuse me? Eric Mangini: [struggling] The... party. With the... with the pants. Party with pants? Alan Faneca: Eric, are you saying that there's a party in your pants and that I'm invited? Eric Mangini: That's it. Alan Faneca: Did Brian (Schott) tell you to say this, Eric? Eric Mangini: No. Yes. He did. Alan Faneca: Okay. No. I don't want to go to a party in your pants. Eric Mangini: Very well. Alan’s agent, would you like to go to a party in my pants? Alan’s Agent: No, Eric. Eric Mangini: All right. Let's go.
damn! this is some funny shit and it took you a while to type it so i figure i should respond, im just not sure what to say!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, well, that's one example, but look how they have treated some of their other big name players- ummm, well, dont look at that, look at how they have already easily locked up Rhodes and Coles this off-season....ummm... maybe not. Yeah, but they signed BT to a big, new contract after having a good season, only to make him switch sides and become less effective---errr, fuggedabout that, it was an anomaly. But they did get a lot of productivity out of Stuckey, Bender, Clarke, Dyson, Dwight and Miller, Pociask and Kowelewski, right? Well...come to think of it... Uhhh, well look at how well they treated Eric Smith last season, and how welcome they made Revis feel in contract negotiaitions when they drafted him....and they only left Chris baker home for one game after he grumbled about the offensive gameplans... well, you know what, maybe you're right after all. Maybe it wasnt just Kendall. :shit:
I agree, Rhodes should be locked up, no doubt...I am the biggest LC fan ever, but I am not liking his attitude...he gives his heart, but he shouls, like every player...he praises the team, and then when he wants something that he doesnt get, he badmouths everyone in the organization...I love the guy, I am just not a big fan of his attitude as of late, but maybe I don't know something...BT was a mistake, hes horrible...All of those dudes you mentioned were injured the whole year, I don't know what you want from all of that...Eric Smith got his chances...how about Eric Coleman?...Baker should have never opened his mouth...he isn't productive enough to say anything, but he shouldnt say anything in the first place...that was a message from Mangini that I respect...he doesnt want his players talkin out to the media, if they have a problem they should go to him...my post was just in response to the other poster who said cutting Kendall didn't make a difference...don't you think that alot of hard feelings started to surface after the Kendall situation?...it was a tippong point....................
Of course I do. My previous post was mostly tongue in cheek, not to be taken as gospel. The kendall fiasco got the season off to a terrible start, and the team never really got the chemistry thing together after that for any sustained period of time. But when other things happen along the way, like the Baker incident, and several other things, it doesnt make the chemistry any better when there are issues of player/management discontent/disharmony.
I agree, like I said my post was just in response to another poster who said that the Kendall situation didnt affect our record or the team
I think the FAs will go where they get the best chance to earn most of the money they negotiate for. How the FO sells the NYJs current and near-term prospects to FAs will have as much to do with their accepting a deal here and the money. I also think that FAs evaluation has to do with the players the FO is committed to, not the ones it has jettisoned.
A little better and as many don't sound all that fun to me....especially when it meant giving into a whiny, aging G who seemed to have separated himself from most of the roster. I still can't get those pictures from JI out of my mind...there were like 20 where the team was in one corner and Pete Kendall was way over on the other side. The guy was a brat in the end, and theres no chance an intelligent HC is going to keep a guy like that around. It's not like we'd be legit contenders with Kendall.
