Stealing a certain mod here... If the Saints draft a RB with their first pick, I'll eat a bowl of paperclips.
Not really a surprise that Gholston jumps post combine. Remember Gholston was a consensus top 7 guy pre combine, and post combine, him jumping into the top 5 wouldnt surprise me in the least. As I have said in a couple of other threads it wouldnt surprise me if he bypasses Chris Long and forces Long to fall out of the top 5 and right into our laps. But it also wouldnt surprise me if this was the situation on draft day. leaving us with 2 DTs that dont fit our system, the best bet would be to try and trade down, but really there arent any teams I could see looking to move forward for one of the Dts. and Ryan is off the board, so we cant even intice a team like Chicago to move up for him. Meaning we would need to reach for our guy, or do what Minnesota did a few years back by accident. and pass on our clock, and take whoever we want a few picks later. But in terms of guys we could reach for, the top CB could be an option, whoever that may be. Also we could reach for a reciever, post Combine, I think Limas Sweed has solidified himself as the top guy, and has solidified himself as a top 20 guy who could go as high as 11. So while a reach, at least it isnt as bad as the Ted Ginn reach from the dolphins last season picking Ginn when he wasnt projected to be go before 24... Still a reach, but not as bad as it could be.
i dont want ellis at all. We are gonna get rid of dwayne and bring in a dwayne clone. Dominates sr year IMO on the best defensive team in the nation has a good senior bowl and terrible combine. I dont want this guy. I wouldnt mind taken DMC and Picking up Groves in the second round though...
Is that possible to do? I thought if you missed your pick, your next pick is the next round or whenever that team was slated to pick next. If it is possible, that is a neat way to drop and save some money if there is not a player you want at that pick.
Not a very good job on this mock. People are discounting Dorsey because he didn't workout . Dorsey will be in the top 3. I love Gholston but sending him all the wat to #2 off of a workout in shorts is a very poor over reaction.
He reminds me of a better DeWayne. I'm not sure if that's what we need now though. But I think it'd be a decent pick if Gholston is off the board.
Ellis is 6 feet tall. He makes James Reed look like a giant. No way he works out, he's a small Dwayne Robertson. I posted a thread about this as the nightmare scenario, and it appears likely to come true. I think the best option at #6 if Gholston, the Longs (Jake and Chris) and McFadden are all gone is to pick the best cornerback, there appears to be some blazers there. That would save us all the silly Samuels money we're contemplating throwing at that free agent and allow us to sign Rhodes and pick up more free agent offensive linemen in addition to Faneca...
