Did you actually watch the video? Those aren't college players he's embarassing. Who else can do that? Any time his crappy blockers actually picked up the right guy he scored a TD. When they wiffed or picked up the wrong guy he got the 1st down all on his own. We haven't had a playmaker like that since, ever? Maybe MG when he was unblockable in his prime. Maybe Freeman McNeil. Maybe Al Toon. If Bush stays healthy he will have a hell of an NFL career. HOF? Probably not, but great, very likely.
If we got Reggie Bush for Vilma, my jaw would not only drop, it would dislocate. Upon review of the tape, there is no way NO would ever trade Bush for Vilma. The thought is ludicris.
Allow me to solidify my opinion: BUST BUST BUST BUST BUST Great college running back, maybe one of the greatest college running backs of all time. That's completely irrelevent. Reggie Bush is not a clock killer. He's a big play guy. He had three runs longer than 20 yards last year. I think Kellen Clemens did as well. 3.7 yards per carry. Sub-pedestrian. He fumbled the ball 7 times. That's awful. Totally inexcusable for a running back to fumble that many times. The 1 in the 1-2 punch was missing? Do you know how many 2's pray every night that the 1 in the 1-2 punch will go missing? Is he a quarterback? Does he need to develop into the starter role? As for character, the TRUE maker of busts (see "Leaf, Ryan") Bush just blew off his USC hearing. ('Cause he's dead guilty). And one of his henchman brandished a gun to a lawyer a couple weeks ago. B-U-S-T.
So throw his rookie season out the window where he was used properly as he had been all throughout his college career. His rookie season is irrelevant because he didn't thrive in a role he's not supposed to be in last year. Good logic.
You mean his rookie year that he rushed for a whopping 565 yards and a 3.6 average in 16 games with his longest carry going for 18 yards? We are talking about the 2nd pick in the entire draft here, you have to get better than 3rd down back numbers out of the 2nd pick in the draft.
He's not the typical back. It's extremely versatile. The Saints have a swiss cheese o-line. Bush also had 88 catches for 742 yards...with a long of 74. Man I wish Thomas Jones could do that. 1300 Total yards out of running back that played behind Deuce McCalister.
Guys...I was kidding. That said, a healthy JV for RB would actually be a fair trade IMO. The JV we currently have is not worth nearly as much.
You guys act like he's garbage. He's an explosive playmaker that can be used in a number of positions. The defense needs to key on him where ever he lines up or he could be taking it to the house. You ignore the receiving yards and TD's in his rookie year. He had 88 receptions for 742 yards giving him about 1300 all purpose yards. He also accounted for 9 TD's his rookie year. Did you watch the video I posted where he was schooling NFL defenses?
I am not trying to say he is garbage, my argument is he is not even close to a great NFL player at this point in his career and as a side argument he was not close to worth the 2nd pick in the draft. I'm not ignoring his receiving yards, I'm just not that impressed by them. He had 88 receptions for 742 yards, um big whoop that is an average of 8.4. That is a dump off guy, our very own 3rd down back averaged over 10 YPR and he was selected in the 4th round. He is not nearly as explosive as he was in college and he wasn't worth the 2nd pick in the draft
Did Leon Washington have 88 catches? Not even close. Bush had many more chances to get tackled for a loss than Neon Leon. That's why their averages are similar. It's a joke to compare Reggie Bush to Leon Washington. Bush is miles ahead in terms of athleticism and potential.
USC had won 32 straight games heading into that game. USC was the better team, Fresno State was the inferior team. You really can't argue that. Fresno had every chance to win that game. It was one of the best college games I ever watched, but Pinegar threw 4 picks. That, as much as Reggie Bush, is why Fresno lost.
where is the argument? reggie bush is a great player...agreed/who cares? lets talk about realistic players and/or picks that New Orleans would offer for vilma
88 receptions for a running back is huge - Brain Westbrook was the next closest guy. Leon had 25 receptions when he averaged 10 YPR. It's obviously a lot easier to have a higher average when you have less than 1/3 the receptions. I love Leon, but Reggie is on another level and is used far more often. I don't know if he was worth the second pick or not, maybe he wasn't? Surely, the Texans made the right choice in taking Mario @ #1. I do think he's a far better player than Vilma at this point with more potential as well.
I watched all the highlights and is insane. He is a rediculous player and plays like he just don't give a fuck about getting hurt. He is insane and people shouldn't say shit about him being over rated.
I throw this up for grabs; it is rumored that The Cowboys are interested in Moss. Could you imajine Moss and TO on the same team?
Uhm..in 2007 Thomas Jones, behind an offensive line that made the Saints' line look like an all pro roster, rushed for 1119 yards and had 217 receiving yards, for a total of: 1336 yards....your wish came true, last year with TJ
I would immediately make dallas an offer for TO....b/c i just dont think they would co-exist(at least contract wise) i would send them coles and a pick...and give TO a new deal this is of course if we lost out in the moss sweepstakes
Yes, this was also speculated, that what ever Moss got, TO would demand matching cash, or else. Since joining this board a few years ago, I have found the off-season goings on to be quite interesting. So much speculation and possibilites.
How many TDs did TJ score? 2 to Bush's 6. How many catches did TJ have? 28 to Bush's 77 What was TJ's YPC? 3.6 to Bush's 3.7. TJ had 310 carries, while Bush had 150. They are different players. Thomas Jones is the type of back that can grind out the clock. Reggie Bush is the type of back than can change the game at any given moment.
I know Fresno State was a MAJOR underdog, but you can't call them "inferior". Inferior - acting or performing in a way that is comparatively poor or mediocre You said it yourself Fresno had every chance to win the game. The night they played, Fresno was dead even with USC. Not inferior.
