Pats didnt franchise him, we have money (and him being good friends with Chad doesn't hurt). I say pick him up...especially with the Coles situation pending!
may even get Coles in camp if he feels like he's got cotch and moss ready to step in and take over. he's a competitive guy, he's gonna want to play
bigger needs yes...more then anything else i want our money to be invested in the o line and d line exclusively. However, there are a handful of players that can single handedly change an entire situation around. he's one of those special players.
Because Moss don't throw it to Moss. Edit: also – Moss has showed that he does not play nice with losers.
Really? Thanks for the deep insight.... Anyway, i think adding a playmaker like moss would definitely help our young qb Kellen or help Chad resurrect his career. Either way it's a win win. Also, it would allow us to have some leverage with Coles, not worry about WR in the draft and turn our attention to the the o and d line exlusively in the draft. I think it kills multiple birds with one stone.
not to mention that we would be picking up a big time playmaker from our most bitter rival and he would give us insight into the pats schemes
Moss has already agreed in principle to a multi year deal with the Pats. Forget it. Even if he didn't I think it is unlikely he would sign with the Jets...he took a big cut in pay for a shot at a ring, so he would likely sign, if not with the Pats, than with another team that is a frontrunner for a shot at the title, like the Colts or some team like that.
Randy Moss makes Chad Pennington a deep threat. And he Make Clemens better as well. the one thing Clemens did well when given time was fit the ball downfield decently. Picture this...third and 4. 3 wide. Moss, Cotchery,Coles(or stuckey) Baker, with Leon in the backfield. As long as you dont give up pressure, thats an unstoppable set, given the quickness you would have on the field. also taking a big piece from a divisonal rival is always added value. (Curtis Martin....anyone?) Moss for 4 years 32 mil, with 26 guaranteed (6.5/8) would be a steal. Then you are set for two years on offense, unitl TJones wears out, so you have two drafts to find a RB, and stock up linemen. The rest f your draft picks between now and 2011 can fill injury holes and the defensive front 7.
"Moss has already agreed in principle to a multi year deal with the Pats. Forget it." Haven't heard anything like that yet...so i'll maintain hope that our FO can make him a deal he can't refuse... i do agree with you though that he might only want to sign with a contender.
The ProJo is reporting that Moss and the Pats are very close to agreeing on a contract extension. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pl...news.asp?sport=NFL&id=1655&line=112757&spln=1
It was reported on NFL network that they believe he had a verbal agreement with the Pats. Honestly it would be stupid for Moss to walk away from the Pats anyway.
Why would Moss go from top gun to pop gun? The Giants have almost as much cap room as we do, they could pair him with Burress and put an aging Toomer in the slot.
Why not Moss? I'll tell you why not Moss. Because the only true reason Randy Moss would come to the NY Jets is because of Chad Pennington, and Chad Pennington does not have the tools to fully utilize Moss anymore, and then there would be another QB controversy, and Moss would get belligerent, and it would be a disaster. We don't have a Tom Brady to make Randy Moss happy. That's why not Randy Moss.
