Since Rb isn't our main problem and many people would like a rb. What about drafting Ray Rice in a later round? We need some blockers before we get a running back.

There are about 5-7 RB's that we could take from round 3 on, all of which would be a good pick.

I't wouldn't hurt, but I'm down with TJ and have high hopes for him.

Me too, behind a solid O-line.

I think it's less that a lot of people want RB and more that a lot of people want a game-breaking player... and they think that McFadden is this year's answer to Adrian Peterson.

I like Ray Rice alot. I can honestly see him coming in and having an MJD type of impact.

The one two combo of Jones and Leon is one of our strongest positions. With some improvement in the line, we are fine there. The pass and run blocking need to improve along with the run defense and we can compete. Of course I am hoping that Clemens is the real deal, but what the heck, he's our only chance at that postion so I might as well think that way.

Adrian Peterson Runs behind Steve Hutchinson, Matt Birk, and Bryant McKinnie....as good as Adrian Peterson is.....he still runs behind a pretty good offensive line.

The Jets need to make it a priority this offseason to bring more better linemen on both offense and defense!!!!

I wasn't trying to justify picking McFadden, I try not to buy into draft hype if I can help it. If we picked up nothing but O-line and D-line players this offseason... ones that will contribute and make the team better and not just provide feel-good stories before they are cut in TC... then I wouldn't be terribly disappointed.

I was agreeing with what you were saying in your previous post. The jets should sign Alan Faneca and draft a player like vernon gholston or Sedrick Ellis, that would justify taking Steve Slayton or Ray Rice in a later round.

  11. I don't think it's that alot of people want an RB...thre's just a slight possibility that the best player in this draft falls to #6..and he happens to be an RB.

I don't know that people are enamored with getting another running back. Yes, there is the McFadden possibility, however remote; but that only makes any sense at all if we have corrected our offensive line with quality using the FA market.. Without the O-line correction then a RB or halfback type makes no sense.

Another possibility would be to get a guy like Schmitt as a power fullback. I think he could very well be available at the start of the 3rd round.

Well put Kurt. That said, with Jones' age and the ridiculous depth at RB in this draft, the value on a guy like Rice (or 4-5 other RBs) may be too great to pass up in round 3 or 4.

This RB class has the potential to be the best class in NFL history. Alot of pure RB talent. Honestly, with all the RB depth, I'd actually stay away from DMC because he has the highest bust potential. You draft a Mendenhall/Rice/stewart/jones/ even my boy 24k, and you're getting a real solid RB. DMC is good, no doubt about it, i just don't think he really is the top guy. I personally think Mendenhall is the BEST RB in the draft, then Stewart.

I don't actually rule out getting another back either, I actually think we need one. Cedric Houston wasn't a starter, but he was a power back. When he left I figured we'd have trouble in goal line situations but I didn't think our goal line running game would totally disappear like it did.

If we are going to do the RBBC thing, we need a power back badly. Because it's not much of a committee when you can't run in the redzone. It wasn't all O-line, any offensive line can falter in goal line situations and you need a guy that can punish whatever defensive player is blocking the hole.

A powerback is a misleading term. One of the best goaline backs of all time was Barry Sanders because he just knew how to run close to the goal line. Granted he knew how to run everywhere but I think you get my point. As for Ray Rice if he's around in the 3rd round and we've addressed other needs I think he'd be a really good pickup.

It's nice to bring Barry Sanders up, but he is the exception, not the rule. Players like him with that kind of instant awareness do not come around very often, which is why some teams platoon their backs as we are. When you have a scatback and a cutback runner as your 2 feature backs, opposing defenses do not have any fear of making initial contact. When you throw a guy back there that can punish opposing defenders a bit, it gives you a psychological advantage on the goal line.

Ray Rice would be too much a risk
Even coming out of college, his body has been through enough wear and tear.
His knees are shot, I don't know how far he can go in the league
