I thought I'd post this because this could be an interesting play here. He is a 6'3 320lb guard who just had the second round tender placed on him. The Ravens want to keep him badly, but what if the Jets come out and make a big time offer? Given the Ravens tight cap situation I don't know if they could afford signing Brown to a $49 million deal. The question then becomes should we give up a high second round draft pick? I say yes, but I'm not sure. Thoughts?
Why spend a draft pick on a RFA guard when we can get one of the good FA guards? Is Brown significantly better than the FA guys?
I don't know how good this player is, but obviously he's a proven commodity with great size to boot--why wouldn't we give up a 2nd rounder? Isn't it better to spend your second round pick on a proven commodity, than on someone who hasn't played a down in the league?
I don't know much about him either. All I'm saying is there are a couple of good FA guards that can be had without giving up a draft pick.
You don't use such a high 2nd round pick and pay that type of money to anything less then a Steve Hutchinson quality guard. You said it yourself, you're not sure, and it looks like most others on the board know little about this guy, to me that isn't a ringing endorsement. If he were worth that type of money someone would know something about him. I say we pass and focus on the UFA guards.
i agree lets look at ufa guards out there there is a couple thar are real good and we could use the draft pick on a need pick
Absolutely ---- keep the draft pick & get an UFA like Jacob Bell or Ryan Lilja. I'd even rather get UFA Kynan Forney of Atlanta than trade a 2nd round pick. We need that 2nd round pick!
