Bullshit. So all the Jets fans(which was most of you) who were flipping out at the thought of Curtis Martin buying Dolphins stock must have had zero feel for pro sports too, right? It's not about the "feel of pro sports" or any of that garbage, it's about not wanting your fan-favorite-face-of-the-franchise type player to join a division rival. Someone like Jay Fielder, no one gives a shit about.
We don't really know what happened behind closed doors. They could have cut him as a favor instead of trying to trade him for a lousy 5-6th round pick and let him choose where he wants to go.

I heard on the radio this morning, that Zach Thomas interviewed with the Pats yesterday, and that the teams that are currently interested in him aside from the pats are: Dallas,Buffalo,and the Jets.
