BB made the same mistake against the Giants that Mike Martz made against the Patriots in the SB. He forgot to run the football.
One of the few things that Mike Tyson said that actually made sense. Your damb right . the Patriots were used to pushing people around and getting the calls and not beig called while Harrison and the like were late hitting and puching in the piles as well as blasting recievers to a degree that other teams were getting called for unnecessary roughness. The gainst took a major risk sending as many guys as they did ; but it paid off really big! This could be the start of the end of these dominating Patriots as we know them . Not a moment too soon !!
That was the flaw with the Patriots. They were a passing team, built in the same model as the Rams, all of a sudden switching to a running style showed throughout the playoffs that they weren't the same dominating team that showed in the first 8 games of the season, because they weren't playing their natural gameplan. And the Giants started nullified the one dimension that they used as a tease and by crushing their oline it crippled their air attack.
Every Jet fan should get a VHS copy of this game, and send it to the owner/FO, with a little post it note on it saying "It's won in the trenches, and our trenches suck" Try to make them realize we need help in there.
Spagnolo really had his game-plan tuned up against the Patriots. And now, unfortunately for the Giants, it looks like he'll be on his way to the Ravens. All I can say is, thank God the Dolphins didn't get ahold of him, because this guy is one hell of a DC and will probably make a pretty good HC.
