I found this on rotoworld....thought it was pretty interesting....i want one of the ryans!!!!:)

The New York Daily News is "hearing" that the Jets have continued to keep a close eye on the Raiders and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
Profootballtalk hears that coach Lane Kiffin and Ryan, who are coaching at the Senior Bowl, are no longer on speaking terms. The Daily News says Rex Ryan could also emerge as a candidate to replace Bob Sutton in New York, but the Ravens could block such a move because he's still under contract.

I could have sworn the Ravens released all of their coaches after firing Billick. I saw it on the bottom line on ESPN but never checked for any articles. Can anyone back me up on this? Or help me with my misunderstandings?

According to the article linked in this thread, Rex Ryan is not currently DC in Baltimore.

I don't really want Rob Ryan, but what i do know, is that I really want to get Rex in here to be our DC. We need to pry him away from the Skins....

? He has nothing to do with the Skins, and is unconnected to any team right now, although he is still in the hunt for the Atlanta HC job.

Right he is unconnected but there are rumors that Snyder will pay Rex more than Garret got from the cowboys to go to Washington...

Since this is the place to just throw out coaching names, this from PFT:

    'SKINS INTERVIEW ZORN

Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins have interviewed Jim Zorn for the position of offensive coordinator.

That's presumably bad news for the team's current offensive coordinator, Don Breaux. And for the team's associate head coach-offense, Al Saunders.

The flirtation with Zorn is an apparent precursor to the hiring of Jim Fassel to be the franchise's 27th head coach (counting Joe Gibbs twice). And that's bad news for the team's current defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams.

Zorn currently is the quarterbacks coach in Seattle, where he has worked since 2001.

La Canfora also reports that the Redskins are trying to pry away defensive coordinator Rex Ryan from the Ravens. Despite reports that the Ravens fired their entire coaching staff, the Ravens still hold the rights to Ryan, and could block any attempt by Ryan to interview (or work) elsewhere in a position other than head coach. But, as a practical matter, the Redskins were able to interview Ryan for the position of defensive coordinator while ostensibly interviewing him for the position of head coach.

Assuming that Saunders and Williams are released by the Redskins, they'll certainly be in demand elsewhere.

:wink:this raises the question about whether woody would spend lots of $$$$
to bring in a top dc, whether it is one of the ryans, or williams.
plus, he will have to bid against other teams, including j-ville.
