Man, this guy just cant stay on the field. Call it bad luck or whatever you want, but the PATS knew what they were doing when they let this guy walk. Thank God we didnt take him --- Seattle bit off for a 1st round draft pick AND a fat contract of 6yrs for $39 million w/$13 million signing bonus. And for what? Averaging 50 catches for 700yards + 4TDs in 2 seasons of play while missing 7 games. Not what I would call a good return on your investment.
Seattle really needs some recievers. Did anyone see Marcus Pollard's game? WOW did he blow. He literally dropped the game for them.
This is what Deion Branch was at the time and will always be. He's a number two receiver who can't be counted on to stay healthy. -X-
Am I right in saying that Branch hasn't ever had a 1000 yard season? He had a 99something season at the pats, and i think that was his best.
Its sort of sad that he's only scored 22 touchdowns in his entire career when Randy Moss beat that in one season... Definitely not worth a first round draft pick
What Deion Branch was then, is what Asante Samuel will be this year... some team will overpay him badly, and that same team will deeply regret it later.
samuel is one of the better CBs in this league, Branch was never more than a decent #2 at best, you can?t compare those two. asante will get overpaid (all big FAs do) but the team will get a great #1 CB and that?s what they pay for. Seattle wanted a gamebreaking WR, and what they got was Deion Branch.
I don't trust any reciever from NE; they are playing with the GOAT QB...of course they are going to look good.
What you're saying about Samuel is what people were saying about Branch last year. He is a trap FA signing.
I never liked him...he was a product of the NE system...if he was on the Jets he would be behind Coles and Cotch. I'm glad they didn't give him big $$$'s.
I agree. New England really doesn't want to lock him up long term though they saw fit to spend gobs of money in free agency. This year the money would be better spent on Moss. They have been able to win in the past with a questionable secondary, and I don't see why this year should be any different. -X-
