Looking at the list I am encouraged that we can add to our receiving corps in Free Agency. Of course Bernard Berrian is the top target - but there are other options. How about Robert Ferguson, 2 years off knee surgery coming back into his own and only 28? Andre Davis had a breakthrough year, but I prefer Bryant Johnson of Arizona - underrated behind two pro bowlers.
1. Flozell Adams Dallas 2. Jordan Gross Carolina 3. Sean Locklear Seattle 4. Travelle Wharton Carolina 5. Chris Terry Kansas City 6. George Foster Detroit 7. Maurice Williams Jacksonville 8. Kwame Harris San Francisco 9. Stacey Andrews Cincinnati (OG) 10. Jason Fabini Washington (OG) 11. Cornell Green Oakland injured reserve 12. Brandon Gorin St. Louis 13. George Foster is an interesting option. Former firs round pick...big strong Right tackle who also had the athelticism to play for Denver...has started his entire career...
There is enough talent in this years FA to plug holes and stop the bleeding. Core players should be drafted, depth and emergency fixes (O-Line) is where free agency is used. Will our beloved owner shell out the cash to have a successful team this year?
OK THIS IS REALLY WHAT WE NEED TO DO JACOB BELL FOR LG, HE'S MCNASTYYYY and ummm for RT JORDAN GROSS if he's not available then go for stacy andrews but i'd rather prefer bell and gross d'brick-bell-mangold-moore-gross sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt
Stacey Andrews is the best tackle(pass protection-wise) amongst those listed who won't be franchised. Adrian Jones is probably better than Max Starks. Starks lost his starting job this season to Willie Colon, from Hofstra, who was absolutely dreadful(although Roethlisberger probably inflates sacks allowed stats for any lineman on that team because he holds on to the ball forever). At no point did the Steelers see fit to bench the struggling Colon for Starks. You can fall in love with a guy's size and athleticism all you want, but once you get to the pros, you need to show results. George Foster was a disaster this season in Detroit, so much so that he would actually be a downgrade over Anthony Clement. -X-
I agree with Andrews, he could be a real good fix for the line. Adrian Jones we cut from our team, I don't think we want him back. Foster may have been horrible in Detroit, but perhaps due to the whole line being terrible together rather than one person. Foster could be a "Take a flyer on him" kind of guy due to last year and could be worth it.
I personally think Foster might be better suited for guard, but he wasn't really very good in Denver either, where it's a system effort. He is still a big body, but with an unpredictable Ferguson on one side, I'd prefer to have someone like Andrews, who allowed very, very few sacks on the right side. -X-
