He was our secondary coach, and by the units performance one of our the best coaches on our staff. I liked this guy, I listed him as one of the "keepers" in that coaches thread on here maybe a week ago. He went to be the D coordinator at Duke. http://duke.scout.com/2/715929.html
The Jets secondary was nothing special this year. This is no big deal. Mangini is supposed to be a DB specialist, anyway.
Yeah, 9th best pass defense in the NFL was nothing special. It was perhaps the only bright spot on this team.
Plus you got to love how quickly Revis was ready, despite the holdout. That goes on Revis, but no doubt coaching was a big thing there. Even Poteat played well as a #2 corner. I'm not sure how big of a loss MM is, but my guess is he did a good job while he was here.
I really think we ended up at number nine because most teams were able to run at will on us and also we were behind quite a bit and our opposition went into ball control (running) mode.
True, but can't deny the coverage sacks our secondary allowed us in the second half....or just the general play of Rhodes, Revis, and even Poteat and Elam.
According to most statistical metrics, the Jets' Pass D was in the bottom third of the league last year. Why would a team ever have to throw on them? Relying on pass yardage allowed as any kind of indicator would be foolish.
