Strategy I think the strategy is pretty simple. Hope Long or McFadden fall to the Jets and if they don't try to trade down. I simply do not think that Ohio State kid is worth the 6th overall pick.
I'd love to have McFadden! But, I don't see him getting passed Oakland. By some miracle, if Jake Long falls into our laps, we scoop him up. Long at LT (He's a REAL LT- Big, Strong, Good feet) move D'Brick to RT, and sign Fanaca. This will improve our line greatly for 2008, and we won't need McFadden (although, he's my #1 choice).
Jesus where do you get this info? From Bill Bellichicks bunghole? Bradway got raped in the offseason by Washington and wanted to make a big splash in the draft. That was the reason for the trade up.
I think the smartest thing for them to do is move down 4-5 spots, pick up another pick or 2, and select Mike Jenkins or Malcolm Jenkins (or whichever CB they covet). Samuel is likely out the door with their cap issues, and Gay is a free agent too (I think they'll bring one back but won't be able to afford the other). This will punch a huge hole into the skill and depth of the secondary, and drafting a top corner to play nickel next year and start in the future (while getting more picks to address LB, S, and possibly even a second round RB) would be smarter then trading all of that for one player who may not even be the impact RB they need.
I think everyone is projecting the wrong Long to St. Louis. They need to inject some youth at their OT spot. The loss of Pace killed them this year. I also think the Atlanta will likely go with McFadden. Yes, they need a QB, but I don't think any of the QBs in this draft warrant such a high pick. Oakland & KC are wild cards. If Dorsey, McFadden & Jake Long are the first 3 off the board, who knows what direction they go in.

Can someone please give let me know what team would trade up with us and for what player. Unfortunately that pipe dream ended with yesterdays win. I wish we could trade down but it's not happening. We have to take the BPA whoever that may be.
We need to hit a home run in this draft. The problem is we have too many weaknesses to address, namely the OL and DL. I would never take a DT with top 5 overall pick, especially the move people seem to think the Dolphins are ready to make, which is to gamble on Dorsey. There have just been way too many busts. Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson comes to mind. And does anybody in Jet world need to be reminded of the insane price we paid for the right to draft fatboy aka DeWayne Robertson?? A lot of people think McFadden is better than Adrian Peterson was coming out of college. If McFadden's there, you have to take him. Even though he won't be.
We should have lost on Sunday. We'd be picking 3rd. Once again, Herm finds a way to f-ck Jet fans. He should have played to win the game. That is why you play. You play to win the game.
I don't understand why... the only thing that could even slow down AP in college was injuries, and the only reason he wasn't the top player in the draft was because people were scared if he could hold up (which has already been tested in the NFL). In terms of talent, McFadden can't touch AP, isn't even in the same class. McFadden is very Reggie Bush like in my mind, with the third dimension of a throwing arm that would be by far the best out of any RB in the NFL.
If you watched the draft, it was the big story of the day. Mortenson kept reporting that the Pats had talked to the Bears the night before... the Jets and Saints worked their asses off to get Robertson and Sullivan ahead of the Pats, when they could have stayed where they were in the draft and gotten them anyway. When ESPN talked to Jauron, he said that he had talked to the Pats, but it was general conversation and no attempt was made for a trade. He said that the report helped the Bears because it helped create more value for the pick.
I disagree. McFadden can touch AD in talent. More on that later. As for Bush- McFadden is more of a classic RB than is Bush. Bush is more of a scatback, pass-receiving threat like the Metcalfs. Bush is a guy you want getting 12-15 carries a game in some sort of committee backfield, that is if you are a guy like me and you like the Saints and you like Reggie Bush. You also want him catching at least 5 passes a game. McFadden, on the other hand, is going to be a guy who will be effective between the tackles and will be able to carry the ball 20 times a game. Don't go crazy with his passing ability. He does not have an NFL arm. That said, if he plays as long as Walter Payton, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Marcus Allen he probably would put up similar passing stats as them. That would certainly be welcome, but I doubt he'd throw more than 7 or 8 passes a year. McFadden is a better pass receiver and blocker than Adrian Peterson. McFadden also has a superstar personality. Peterson is sort of a boring guy. McFadden is a character. McFadden, if he stays healthy and is not a horrible bust of epic porportions, will be a major star in the NFL. Peterson can certainly also be a superstar. What I am saying is that McFadden could play in one of the top NFL markets and still be a superstar. It's just a little extra bonus. McFadden will make for a better interview, he'll be a go-to guy for the media, more commercials, stuff like that.
