That is how you eward loyal fans, if they sold beer many of the fans would have gotten even more dunk and started trouble. I wish they banned beer for EVERY game.

There's no question about it which is why the Stadium is always half empy at kickoff.

Even though they couldn't do their usual Sunday job, many of the guys who sell the beer were kept busy on Sunday. Mangini used them as part of the offensive line rotation during the game.

If anyone wants an actual answer to this question, it has to do with the Raiders game last year. Apparently something happened last year (no clue what and I was there) and they decided not to serve anything so close to New Years. Both my fiancee and I asked at separate times to different vendors and that's the answer we got.

I second that- things get too out of hand with beer sales, the loud-mouthed idiots in the stands, the fights, the drunks driving home. The Aramark lawsuit was simply the icing on the cake. It's a shame because not everyone who drinks at the game is in the same boat, folks have a beer or two and thats where it stops.

That being said, I'd love to see it eliminated altogether.

If you can't curtail your drinking for 3 hours to watch a game you've payed very good money for, maybe you should skip the games altogether and instead "party" at home.

It is sad that most people can't enjoy a beer because of the behavior of the drunken idiots most of whom have not seen a breast since their mothers' stopped breast feeding them.

As if the team's play isn't bad enough.

Well theres an solution to that which is employed by bars the world over , if a patron is intoxicated , the licensee has the right to withold further sales....
.....for those that can't understand that , "You've had enough sir/madam , is there any other non alcholic drink that you would like?"
Works well on 52K geordies every home game that I attend

Won't work here- you have your sober friend buy your drinks, or you stand at full attention, say one word, "Beer" and throw your money on the counter, all the while looking straight ahead.

Considering the volume of beer sales, it is next to impossible for some concession stand mope who can barely muster enough intelligence to find his or her way to the stadium to now be charged with determining whether a fan is or is not intoxicated.

I'd actually pay good money to see you reaction, along with all of the other "passionate" fans.

Would you (a) bad-mouth the vendor, (b) ask for a supervisor, (c) swat all of the straws and napkins onto the floor, (d) leave the stadium in protest and drink in your car or (e) throw a closed fist into one of the stadium walls?

To be a fly on the wall...

i am one of those guys who never makes kick off yet im @ the stadium 5 hours before game time.yes i drink and get rowdy in the parking lot.
but if they stopped serving beer during games i would not mind.it would save me at least $40 per game.

i enjoy the game just as much as the partying, but they go hand in hand.
    like alcohol and cigarettes

also to add the way i watch the game live,is the way i watch the game at home.
i get up to piss get a new beer and smoke a cigarette. i dont watch every second of the game.that is what my little walkman is for so i can her Bob Wesselsusan and Marty Lyons call an excellent play by play.

so some people need to stop telling others how to enjoy themselves as long as, and i cant emphize enough,as long as it is not in a rude or distasteful way.

Exactly,Football games are social occasions! I drink at our tailgate parties, So it does not bother me if they sell beer inside or not. Actually, yesterday I spent more time at the tailgate then I did the game. The weather sucked during the game, and the product on the field sucked. For the first time ever I left at halftime.

That makes you the exception at the Meadowlands. There are a lot of unruly drunkards at 11 am en route.

The problem is that there are more and more people at the games that are rude and distasteful. And it interferes with my enjoyment of the game. IMO public drinking is becoming like public smoking. I go to games with my son and the past few years fan behavior has become worse. I've had beer spilled down my back. I've had people stand up for every play when the rest of the section is sitting down and if you ask them to sit, you risk a fight. I've seen an increase in foul language in multiples. I've had to take measures when leaving the stadium to avoid having my son injured in melees caused by drunken fans. I can't buy food or a drink until the third quarter without missing 10 minutes of the game because the beer lines are so long. I've missed plays because of people in front of me getting up to buy beer or pee 5-10 times a game. More importantly, it has become increasingly clear that more and more people at the game care less about the game than about the tailgating and the drinking and other nonsense. It is depressing as a fan to see a half empty stadium at kick off every week because the fans need to stay in the parking lot for one more beer. Or to start every second half the same way so people can buy that last beer before you shut down sales. So you can say that it doesn't bother people, but it does. And I am not alone.

I would be in favor of a drinking ban during games. I know it would never happen, but it would certainly improve the game experience for those of us who are there to watch football. If tailgating and drinking and ogling cheerleaders are that important, go to an empty parking lot on game day, tailgate and drink all day, listen to the radio broadcast on your car and pay for a hooker to dance with pom poms the whole time.

Totally agree with both your posts.

It always takes a very small minority to ruin something , then the bleeding hearts to hop on their collective hobby horses and bring about complete abolition.
Go the whole 9 yards and bring back prohibition , it'll cut out alot of domestic violence , assaults, car wrecks etc....
Responsibility and control. I'm sure once people start getting life bans from home games they'll think twice about getting abusive. If they don't learn , nothing lost eh?

Doesn't sound to me like alcohol is the problem to you. The problem is that you can't sit and watch the game in peace and not have to deal with a lot of assholes. Unfortunately, that's just not how it is - people are going to get up at football games. People are going to fight. People are going to spill shit.

Does alcohol cause this behavior? Well, it makes people have to piss more and probably makes them a little more rowdy and a little more inconsiderate. But the reality is that people are going to piss and be rowdy assholes without alcohol a lot of the time and that's just one of the annoying things about going to a game. In exchange, you get to see the Jets live (which, on occasion, is actually fun). But banning alcohol is not the same as banning assholes - they'll always be around, drunk or not.
