Anybody who says the Jets "blew it" by winning today obviously is not involved in competitive sports. No Jet player or coach took the field today thinking about who the Jets are going to draft in the first round in April. Some coaches and players were playing for their jobs. All of them were playing for pride. As we sit here today, nobody knows who will be available with the 6th pick. In fact, as the Jets were playing that game, Oakland , Baltimore, and St. Louis were all playing and strength of schedule was still up in the air. Does anybody really think that any Jet player was thinking about who would be on the roster NEXT year during today's game???? The concept is ridiculous. In fact, look at past first rounds and the quality of players never follows the draft order. So please step back from the edge, come back to reality, relax, and let the offseason play out before you proclaim the draft ruined with the Jets dropping two or three places with a win. Atlanta and Baltimore didn't tank it today either. Oakland played their hearts out against SD. Should those teams have played to lose?

I don't think they should try to lose, they are competitors, they should always play their hardest and try and win.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't have rathered a loss. Draft isn't ruined, but we would be in better position if we had lost today.

I don't think any profesional tries to fail, remember their career and paycheck relies on them being as successfull as they can. Not only in sport.

i know getting a higher draft means odds are, a better more elite player which isnt always true, but wanting your team to lose for a better future is BS, im proud my team won today....we went out in overtime, strong momentum for offseason, shitty game which is good because they have film to evaluate....wheres your pride guys, where jets fans, we dont have any but a win oday should at least bring a smile to your face, it did for me:up:

we fucked up by winning. im not saying the players themselves should lose on purpose but obviously we gained nothing by winning. nothing. and please dont tell me it gives us momentum for next year because thats ludicrous.....

What a lovely concept , 3 qtrs into the season when its mathmatically impossible for a team to progress they all try to lose to win the draft race. I love the NFL

Negative: We're not drafting a top 3 player

Positive: We're not paying that kind of money either. We also know that the organization is now capable of judging talent and doing what they have to to get there guy.

I don't see why people are upset by this. Harris and Revis have contributed as much as anyone who went in the top 6 last season. We got 2 guys that could turn into perennial Pro-Bowlers (not that it means as much as it used to, but all the same..) at much lower spots.

Now the Jets will be free to take the BPA which is also likely to be address a need position as opposed to taking Peterson who's is more of a luxury when compared to other positions.

The only reason I wish the Jets lost (although I could never actually root for them to lose) is that a higher pick would get more if they traded down. I know trading down isn't a given, but the Jets badly need to address multiple positions... I'd rather have four picks in rounds two and three than a single high-first round pick.
