Who else thinks he could be a huge threat on our team.

correct me if im wrong but i believe he ran a 40 time in the 4.4s

he has huge potential and could be the next Antonio Gates. I just think tight ends are still very underrated position in the nfl. He would usually have a lb on him in which he could blow away.

anyone agree or disagree, this thought just popped in my head

btw, does anyone know how good of a blocker he is, i didnt follow maryland in college at all

The thought of drafting another TE in the 1st rd. makes me cringe a little bit, BUT after seeing some of his highlights he looks alot better than anything we have ever drafted at that position. I don't think he is great value at #4 , and I think he may be out of our range if we find a trade partner to move down. If he ends up a Jet, I won't cry myself to sleep

We just resigned baker. I doubt we take him.

I can pass. We have two potential starting TE's, one which clones Becht and the other possibly has a good future with the team.

Way too many holes on this team for another tight end, especially in the 1st round.

Chris Baker could have been a top 10 TE if he remained healthy, so I am willing to take the risk this year.

    Look at it this way.

Our defense right now is decent.

Pennington, to Coles, #4 Vernon Davis, Moulds (FA), Baker, Maroney (29), or Martin.....

Moulds isnt a FA, he is a Buffalo Bill - he might be on the trading block though

    TE not a need

I wouldn't draft a TE after resigning Baker. Too much $ tied up in him and Jolley. The Jets have too many holes to fill other than TE, especially the offensive line. If we don't get this addressed somewhat during FA, the Jets are going to have a very long year. Protecting Pennington should be the number one priority for this team.

We don't need a TE. Do you think Vernon Davis would have done anything in our offense last year whatsoever? Even with Chad throwing him the ball, TE is one of the least pressing needs we have.

Actually it would, it'd be like having a 2nd wide reciever, because Jolley and McCareins couldn't catch a cold.

......And Bollinger couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. McCareins played well 2 years ago, and Jolley showed some signs of life late in the season.

He's a great blocker but TE isn't a need so keep your hands off of him.

What does it matter that he's a TE? He's a top 10 talent in this draft and probably would be in any draft. But as I've said, we've gone over this before.

And yes, he's a good blocker, though I wouldn't call him the heir to Stone Hands Becht.

I do not want him, we have so many other needs besides TE it is not even funny, Baker and Jolley are better than servicable, we are solidified there. Any O-linemen, LB, D-lineman, or QB would be a much smarter choice in the first
