I don't care what other teams think and I don't care what other agents think. I only care about how he manages the Jets and that he does good for the New York Jets.
I would congratulate you for making this intelligent comment, except it's so freaking obvious! I cannot believe anyone gives a damn about what agents think about Tannenbaum, and the comment about bringing Seattle or Denver into the Abe negotiations (whichever they're talking about) being amateurish (after it resulted in a better deal for the Jets) is too moronic to even consider.
You bitch bradway is too soft and tanny is a hard ass. So many jets fans just need to bitch and moan about anything
He had called Runyan to say if there was anything else he could do for Runyan to change his mind and runyan said no.....he wanted to stay in philly, thats not his fault
...everybody take one step back the Genius is about to step up to the podium and offer his usual amazing insight. His next good post will be his first...
I don't think this whining of the Falcons and the Agents is nothing less than a plain compliment. You have to appreciate how the new FO is handling the situation. You just have to like these guys:up:
Every time I read one of rajensen088 posts....blood starts to drip from my mouth from biting my tongue. The article...and Im surprised Randy let some of these guys get away with it, states that someone is quoted how the Jets have always been difficult to get along with...and that hasnt changed. Yes...we tend to complain when you have bent us over the chair for 5 years and had your way with us in every conceivable orifice. We, the Jets, havent given you enough of ourselves over the past 5 years...and nothing has changed. I would personally like to go on record and apoligize to the Falcons and the Redskins...for not giving Abe to the Falcons for a second rounder..and not giving you for your golden boy QB, Patrick Ramsey, a second rounder. I promise..it will never happen again...I will go get the vasaline so things can be as they were during Bradway/Edwards.
This stuff about Runyan is ridiculous. I have no doubt that Tannenbaum, the same guy that I believe included the insurance clauses in Wayne and Curtis's deals, might have tried to push one into the Runyan deal. He is an aging veteran. If I had a choice, I'd stay where I was comfortable in the twilight of my career versus a team that is starting from scratch.
One players' agent said, "Mike's getting greedy," An AGENT calling Tannenbaum greedy? Is that a joke?
This whole thread is BS. Agents and other teams alike are used to having there way with us, now that we aren't giving in to every demand of agents and teams can't just fleece us and use us, Tanny is "difficult to deal with" or "greedy" Love it... There is another guy up in NE who was labled the same thing a few years ago. Things seem to be working pretty well up there... Ellis
Here's my thinking and it's just my opinion, long gone are the days were people can stockpile their rosters by getting over on the JETS. Ok 1st off. 1. J Abe: The Filthy Birds (yes I said FILTHY, because what they tried to pull was foul) thought they were sitting across the table from Bradway and Edwards when they tried to offer up a 2nd round pick for J.A. JA was a 1st round pick who when healthy played at or exceeded his 1st round value, is ONLY 27, has over 50 sacks in only 6 seasons and has been to the PRO BOWL, 3 times. If the Jets had given the OK on that offer we'd be the laughing stock of the league. Tannenbaum set a precendence (sp) with that the days of FLEECING the JETS are over. Next, the Redskins who have butt f***** us for the better part of the last 3 or 4 seasons was looking to get a 4th round pick for ramsey and only got a 6th round pick. So in my opinion, these agents and other GM's are FULL OF SH*T because if the JETS had continued to give into these INSANE demands and allow teams to give it to us, would they be talking about how hard it is to deal with the JETS? I think not. They want a patsy in the league and they want the JETS to CONTINUE to be that patsy, that team they can just fleece anytime their looking for a good free agent move here and there...ala Thomas, Coles, Jordan, etc...etc... So I say they should just go and kick rocks and move and get over it.
Oh God forbid, lets get the Experienced OC and DC like we did in the Herm era, and let's overpay so we can be the laughin stock of the past, and lets get some more never win the big on old coaches, or let us be screwed by Parcells again. Yeh...lets be what be have been before. Please give this team a chance, because we need a change. The past sucked.
So 2 players agents that have had to deal with the Jets and a member of a team that just had to give up more to the Jets than they wanted in a trade have said that the Jets are a bit of a pain to deal with. Theyre playing a little hardball, making sure people dont label them as patsys right off the bat. Personally I think theyve done fairly well so far, which isnt saying much since theyve been in charge for only a very short while now. If the management of another team, other than the Falcons who just had their attempt to get Abe on the cheap blow up in their face (and dont tell me they werent behind Abrahams "I wont go anywhere else" ploy, and they wanna call the Jets amateurish?), if somebody else came forward and said the Jets management was incompetent, I might pay attention.
Of course people in Atlanta are going to dislike him. We made them trade down, and lose three picks for Abraham. Tannebaum is a tough person who is going to get the best he can out of everything. Every GM does it, and sometimes you have to play dirty. If they think what we did we did was childish look at what Seattle did to Minnesota because Seattle screwed themselves with Hutchinson.
