I know you're all thinking it,, so lets predict it... Jets are sitting pretty now at 2, they will win a meaningless game against the greatest coach of all time and shoot down to 7th overall... Merry Xmas!!! I hope this wasn't offensive or a personal attack towards anyone...
Greatest coach of all time? We're playing Herm dude. And if we beat the Chiefs so be it, I'd love to finish the season out with a win especially against him.
Not at all but just the fact that there is a draft forum on the site and you chose to do it here may bother a little...
What are the scenarios if we win or lose next week. If we lose do we have 2nd overall? If we win how far can we drop?
they are actually sitting at 3... Here's how the top eight picks in the first round shape up after applying the appropriate tiebreakers, through Sunday's games: 1. Miami; 2. St. Louis; 3. New York Jets; 4. Atlanta; 5. Kansas City; 6. Oakland. 7. Baltimore; 8. New England, from San Francisco.
I just can't worry about this. Hoping for a Jets loss is stupid, but a win benefits us very little at all and has absolutely no bearing on how we go into next year. At the beginning of the year I circled the KC game as a game I would savor as being pivotal on if we get into the playoffs or not. I would have drooled at beating Herm in that scenario. With the current situation, it is like all the juice has been sucked out of the steak. It just won't be the same - not even close. If someone gave me an offer to go Ling fishing during the game, I would take it. Whether the Jets win or lose I do not see us as losing in the draft. If we win it takes McFadden out fo the picture and that is great IMO. It is a distraction and I see no benefit. Where we would fall to puts us in a spot where landing some defensive line help would make sense, but we are not going to get a NT high in the draft - there are none. Losing puts more complexity on the plate, IMO, it defintiely brings McFadden into play. I hope we don't get caught up in th media circus. I am not sure Chris Long is worthy of a #2 or #3 pick in the draft; I need combine footage and numbers. There is other defensive talent that would challenge the top 5 as well.
I don't think your worrying will have much of an impact on the game. I also don't care where they pick either but can you please say PASS RUSHER. On a curious note in trying to figure out draft order I came across 2008 schedule. Road trips will be BRUTAL OAK SD SF SEA TEN Jets will certainly be racking up some mileage
If we get any help on the O-Line in FA, we should take Run DMC. Then pick up some more help later on the draft. This plan would have to include us making some moves defensively in FA too though, to bring in a pass rush. Unfortunately, that would still leave questions at NT, because our Run D has been awful the past couple of games especially, while playing pretty superbly against the pass. Poteat excluded.
If we lose and the Falcons lose as well as the Rams, do we end up with the number two pick. If the Rams win that is fine since they will not be taking Mcfadden. Should we end up winning(hope not) where could that leave us.
Going to be the first Jets game I have attended:jets: No matter how much I want McFadden, I really want us to win next week
