The Jets, I believe, have too much talent to suck again next year. The Kendall Affair, I think, hurt them the most during this season. But all-in-all, I'm not so sure that they're too far away from contention if only the following happens:

    1. Free Agents - Go after Alan Faneca and Stacey Adams (or Max Starks) and strenthen the OL with savvy vets rather than drafting unproven talent.

Go after additional help on the Secondary by going after Randal Gay. Getting Asante would be awesome but I think that it would eat up too much of the cap space signing him to a contract.

    2. Draft - Chris Long....even if McFadden falls to our slot, Long is the right player at the right time. No 3-4 NT's seem available but then again this seems to be a never ending quest since Jason Ferguson left via free agency. Getting one though would be crucial.

    3. Trade Vilma and Robertson - Although I really like these two guys, I think that they have been unable to rise above the label of miscast 4-3 players. Experiment is over. Make this move before their value plummets.

    4. QB - Pennington or Clemens......open comp come TC.

    What do you guys think.......discuss.

    Stacy *Andrews.*

I'm still anti-Chris Long until it's actually proven he's at least 290, and even then the best and most good to elite 3-4 ends (Seymour, Warren, Castillo, Olshanksy, Spears) were drafted at at least 295. And even then...only ONE of them was drafted at 295 and Spears is easily the worst player of this group. I realize Long plays in a 3-4 in college, but um...thats college and this is the NFL.

I totally agree we should trade Drob and Vilma. Get SOMETHING for them while they still have some value--also move Chad too. I hope it is not a weekly decision next year of Kellen or Chad. Commit to Kellen.

So your drafting an undersized DE and trading our NT.

    That should help

I agree with everything except trading Robertson, who doesn't get enough credit, and we should draft Joe Flacco after drafting Chris Long. Penny should get traded while he is still worth something (I am a Chad Fan but he has to go). Clem has looked more like an NFL Backup so far which is what I thought before we drafted him. Joe Flacco looks like he may be the next Cutler. (Good arm but not the rocket arm cutler has).

    1. Too old
    Too suck
    2. Too small
    3. Too much
    4. Where have you been?

Stacy or Max would be cool...Vilma is gone if he can pass a physical.

Where do you find historical numbers from previous drafts?

    1) Bill Parcells develops early symptoms of Alzheimer's
    2) Bill Belichick's neck vein springs a geyser
    3) The Jets find some free agents that don't suck

Out of these I think #1 is most likely.

    Someone said Suggs has resigned.

EDIT: I can not find any evidence of that though.

SI has draft info as far back as '98 if you look hard enough.

Google a specific guy and his draft year...for example Richard Seymour 2001 NFL Draft and look for the SI link.

Those guys I listed are from memory though...except Seymour.

    1. Sign Jacob Bell to play LG (younger than Faneca, hopefully cheaper and playing near pro bowl level for the Titans.
    2. Sign Karlos Dansby to play ILB after we trade Vilma (Dansby can also play OLB so we shouldn't have a weak hand when dealing Vilma for draft picks / players)
    3. Sign Gibril Wilson to play FS
    3. Trade Vilma for draft pick(s)
    4. Trade down a couple times to draft a RT (Michael Oher?) around pick # 18 (give or take a couple spots).
    5. When trading down, get an extra first rounder for 2009 and a couple extra second rounders this year
    6. Use our own second rounder to draft WR Limas Sweed from Texas (move up if necessary)
    7. Draft CB Jack Ikegwuonu from Wisconsin around pick # 42 in round two
    8. Draft OLB Tommy Blake from TCU around pick # 50 in round two
    9. Draft RG Heath Benedict from Newberry and DE Kendall Langford from Hampton in round three
    10. Draft QB Joe Flacco in round four
    11. Draft BPA in rounds 5-7
    12. Sign DT Jason Fergeson and OG Montrae Holland for depth
    13. Extend Barton (depth) and Rhodes to backloaded deals
    14. Clean house, get rid of Jmac and other deadweight to make room for younger players

he's too short for de. You need someone to get their hands up, and drob has never batted down a pass at the LOS in his life--Meanwhile he has pocketed some $50M from the jets.

    1. Chad Pennington is brought back to compete for starting job.
2.Jets rebuild the O-line so when Penny wins back his job he actually has protection and Jones can actually have a hole to run threw.
3.Justin McBadhands is not on the team
4.Go to a 4-3 and sign some beef to clog up the middle so Vilma and Harris can kill the QB's and RB's
5.Add depth to the wr's, after Coles and Jerricho, Jets have a college QB who can't catch, see wish #3, and thats about it.
