Wow , LC doesn't have much luck  Jets WR Coles reinjures ankle in freak accident Monday, Dec 17, 2007 11:18 am EST This is the way this New York Jets' season has gone: Laveranues Coles, their top receiver and a team captain who has been battling through injuries all year, reinjured his left ankle when a portable trainer's table collapsed on Saturday at the team's Providence hotel according to the New York Post. Subsequently, Coles tried to play in yesterday's 20-10 loss to the Patriots but was unable to make a go of it. Since my wife is English, I will translate for all to enjoy. The humor in this is knowing that a spanner is English for an adjustable wrench. To envision JMac doing this is just hilarious.
Coles has been one of my all time favorite Jets for some time now... And it hurts me to see the way this guy has been banged up this year. I dont care what anyone says: Trading Coles this offseason for Picks, players or anything will hurt the all around chemestry on this Jets team. Coles is one of the leaders on this Jets team And needs to retire a Jet if you ask me. If anything we can always move him to the slot later on in his career and find a WR to play alongside Cotchery.
This is very valid. Coles is one of the toughest and most reliable receivers I have ever seen, and when you couple this with the team chemistry he brings, there is clear value. While a trade is a possibility depending on how it is packaged, I will defintiely miss the contribution he made to the team. It would be nice to keep him a Jet until retirement, but that somewhat sentimental thinking is clearly what got us into major trouble during the Herm years. If I were coaching, I would keep all my options open in this off-season; especially one as pivotal to a coaching career as this one is coming up.
At this point, I'm finding how the Jets season is going just hilarious. Like, I can't help but laugh anymore. I was laughing hysterically when Clemens' INT was returned for an edit: TD. I even called Nugent missing the field goal and was laughing. Bring on next year already.
If Clemens' INT was returned for an INT it would be one of the most remarkable plays in football history.
Macariens saw the table about to collapse and tried to catch Coles. Of course we all know how that story ends.
