article too long to post. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/ Wow, talk about a youth movement, more than half of the coaches aren't even 40, and there are quite a few in their 20's.
I'm not saying he's gonna put up a Saban 9-7 year while we're rebuilding...But if he puts up a solid showing and shows improvement, he'll be able to lure in top Coordinators and all.
Jets Announce 2006 Coaching Staff The New York Jets announced today their 2006 coaching staff. The announcement of the composition of the coaching staff was made by Head Coach Eric Mangini. Joining Mangini on the coaching staff will be (in alphabetical order): Richie Anderson, assistant wide receivers coach; Brett Bech, assistant strength and conditioning coach; Corwin Brown, defensive backs coach; Bryan Cox, assistant defensive line coach; Mike Devlin, assistant offensive line coach; Andy Dickerson, coaches assistant; Sam Gash, assistant running backs/special teams coach; Jim Herrmann, linebackers coach; Rick Lyle, assistant strength and conditioning coach; Denny Marcin, defensive line coach; Jason Mandolesi, defensive quality control; Noel Mazzone, wide receivers coach; Jason Michael, offensive quality control; Markus Paul, head strength and conditioning coach; Jimmy Raye, running backs coach; Brian Schottenheimer, offensive coordinator; Bob Sutton; defensive coordinator; Mike Westhoff; special teams coordinator; and Tony Wise, offensive line coach.
I'm still uncomfortable with Schottenheimer. But overall, it looks solid. I love Richie Anderson being part of the CS now.
Did anyone notice that Mazzone was the OC at North Carolina State from 2003-2004, when Rivers (and Cotchery, I'll add) was there. Now we've got Rivers' college coordinator and his pro position coach. Not saying this means we're going to go get him from SD (even if he were available) but you never know.
The same Rick Lyle that used to play for the Jets? I admit I didn't read the article. Shame on me. I see someone else caught that up above.
Whoops missed this thread, my other topic can be deleted. Here is the audio for those who missed the actual press conference. http://jetstv.com/?page_id=22
Rick Lyle was one of my favorite Jets... very underrated DL. But yeah, it is kind of cool to see so mnay familiar names on the staff.
As usual, good point, Michkey Shuler 82 Mickey Shuler 82 brings up an interesting note. Could this be a River's ploy by Magini? I always enjoy your posts, Mickey Shuler. Keep them coming!
Now someone has to get to Petrozza to purge the Staff site of Herman and his vermin. BTW, I can't find any mention of a new QB coach...did we keep Jermery Bates?
Yes but who is the tight ensds coach? I read that Cristobal is staying at Miami. Also, I don't get Richie Anderson as a WR coach. Sorry.
I read that the assistant OL coach and Richie Anderson as the assistant WR coach were going to share the TE coaches duties. Also, Anderson was a very successful receiving FB, maybe that's why they put him in with the WR's.
Saban has Mike Mularky (HC of the Bills last year) and Dom Capers (HC of the Texans last year). We have Brian Schottenheimer who has never called an offensive play in college or the NFL, and Bob Sutton who was passed over as DC by the Jets since he's been with the team and became the hot choice after Mangini's first choice was signed to a contract extension by the Raiders.. The entire coaching staff is laughable bunch of second, third or fourth choices and you can only love them if you love workout warriors with no production and all potential. It's all good though, Mangini might not last a year.
I don't agree with that if it's true. I'd rather he focus on being JUST the OC and let someone else worry about a QB's issues. That said, Vinny would be a good candidate for that Job.
