"I'm a beast. I see myself as a bodyguard. I'm personally responsible for the health and welfare of my quarterback, and I'll do anything in my means to protect him." -- University of Virginia left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, regarded by most as the top offensive line prospect in the draft

If this guy doesn't give his heart and soul on the field every game then call me crazy. This is the kind of attitude I want on the field.

I like the sound of that, people were complaing hes too small, hes put on upwards of ten pounds and will do whatever is neccesary to excel. I feel strongly that he wont be a bust.

It may sound dumb but after that I would have no problem taking him. Hes got a mentality and an attitude. If we do take him Ill buy a jersey just because of that soldier/warrior mentality.

He won't. He tries way to hard, and he's a great guy off the field. He's also very well spoken and professional. I don't care who is available at our choice, if we had the first pick and didn't trade it I still think Mangini would want him, so yeah if he's at four and we don't trade, even if Mario is there, I still think D'Brick is a lock (hell he's even from the area anyway)

So? Everyone puts on more weight during the combine because they aren't actively practicing or working out every day like they are during the season. I bet you he'll lose that weight and have trouble staying at 295 during the season.

Granted...it's not the "sexy" pick but if you can add a potential cornerstone to your OL for 10 years why wouldn't you? Every team in the NFL tries to find a solid LT whether it be the draft or via free agency. This guy is a team player, intelligent and a warrior. I would NOT be upset if they chose D'Brick over Hawk, Cutler, etc., etc. Also, it's not like the Jet's are loaded w/ pro bowl O-lineman so this pick makes sense.

Who cares if he isn't 330 lbs??? Is Walter Jones? No....As long as the guy can keep our QB from getting drilled I could care less if he weighed 250 lbs. It's all about technique and attitude.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is overrated. He is not even a complete LT. If you have watched any or at least one of his college games you would know he struggles in the run game. His own coach, former JETS coach, Al Groh is quoted in the Sporting News magazine stating, " D'Brick became more physical as a senior, and he may never be a classic tree-clearing tackle in the running game". Also, Ferguson's Pro Day was average at best and they didn't even state how many reps he did if he did any at all. D'Brick has the personality I'll give him that but he doesn't have what it takes to be the JETS fourth pick of the draft.

Players that have impressed so far are Vince Young and Mario Williams whom both have been spectacular to date. D'Brick has been average, check out his Pro Day numbers. I can't wait till draft day.

The only reason I don't want D'Brick is because we'd have to LTs. If I had any confidence in Jones playing the right side I'd say go for him because he'd really solidify our OL, but I'd rather go for Mario and sign a FA.

Wow yeah, pro days eh? If you were a scout you'd probably be fired in the same day you managed somehow to get the job.

It's nice that he can say that, but considering his soft demeanor on the field, and finesse skills, it's not entirely true.

This kid is going to be great. People that think he's soft or doesn't have that "Killer instinct" don't know what the hell they are talking about. Since when do you need a killer instinct to suceed in the nfl. Blocking and Tackling. If you are keeping your quarterback from getting sacked and opening up holes in the run game I don't care if you worship pink bunnies, you're doing your job and that's what matters.

As someone said we need that Franchise Left Tackle to keep our quarterback healthy and time to get the ball to our recievers. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is that guy and if he is there at 4 he should be the pick.

Oh he had 26 bench presses if anybody wanted to know.

SuppaMan, I'm a better talent evaluator then you will ever be or know in your lifetime. D'Brick who? Mario Williams, Vince Young, or a trade down. BELIEVE IT!

I understand that this quote makes him seem hungry and an animal... but does it really? I can sit here and say "I'm going to go out there and play as hard as I can and give it 200%" but does that mean I'm an intense player? Once I actually get out there I could melt down and play like a big softy.

I do believe he is a guy of good character but I'm just saying don't fall in love with this guy because of one quote.

He's not opening up holes in the run game. He is a great pass protector, but he's not good at all when it comes to creating lanes.

so if he's not a great run-blocker, then he really shouldn't warrant the 4th overall pick. obviously, he's a great pass-blocker; if he could do both, i'd say he's worth a pick that early.

i hope the Saints choose him so he's not even an option for us.

    cheers
