Jets Sign FB Warren The New York Jets announced Friday that they have signed rookie free agent fullback Micheal Warren. The announcement was made by Jets? General Manager Mike Tannenbaum. Warren, a 6-1, 249-pound native of Linden, N.C. began his collegiate career at North Carolina State University before transferring to NCAA Division I-AA Elon College in Elon, N.C. In his two seasons as a member of the Phoenix?s squad, Warren manned a linebacker spot and will attempt the conversion to fullback on the professional level. The product of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, N.C. red-shirted as a freshman at NCSU in 2000 before playing sparingly for the Wolfpack in 2001 as a linebacker. He then transferred to Elon and earned All-Big South Conference first-team honors after playing in all 11 games in 2002, collecting 82 tackles, a team-high 14 tackles for -43 yards, two passes defensed and a sack. In his final season on the collegiate level, Warren played all 12 games and had 81 tackles, the second-most on the team, and added seven tackles for losses of 25 yards, two passes defensed, a sack, and an interception returned 10-yards for the game-winning score (at Hofstra). (Editor?s Note: Warren?s full name, Micheal, is spelled differently from the traditional spelling of Michael). Not a major signing or anything but it looks like Mangini is willing to try out young players looking for that diamond in the rough

wow this is the blockbuster deal ive been waiting for all off-season we surely now can achieve 10 wins
Eh..No biggie. Just giving people the heads up. The mods can delete this thread if they want. But worthless signing is an overreaction. He is a young player, who knows. Calm down.
What is with all the melodrama today? Did I stumble into a soap opera? My God, it is a younger player at a position most teams forget about. People need to relax.
It's always funny to see the idiotic, sarcastic posts whenever the team makes a small signing like this.
We're just having a little fun. I know this rebulding will take time and I am willing to be patient. I guess I would just like to see a move that we can hang our hats on.
who the hell is michael warren. i had the same reaction last august when i went "who the hell is pete hunter".
It is a young player. Maybe the FO sees something in him and turn out to be a great find. Wait until you see these players in a game. Hang you head on that:up: It is a FB for God's sake. On most teams it is just a glorified blocker. Patience and Perspective.
I'm glad someone has some sense. If its not TO or Edge, its a bad signing. Just signing a young player and seeing if he works out to be a find. Not every signing has to be some probowler everyone has heard of. I wonder if Chargers fans reacted like this when the Chargers picked up Gates as a FA.
I actually do like Askew and I hope he gets some playing time this year. But we'll see how Warren fits in.
He has good size, with our line going into next year we will need a big body back there to defer stress from whoever is the QB, Askew is not that guy, he is a recieving FB not a blocker, I think that if he pans out it will be a good sign, if he doesnt than its water under the bridge, everyone should relax, we are not a win now team
