I actually find this question a bit intriguing, it seems most people think or want Vilma to be traded. I'm in the minority. I love Vilma and believe that with a big time NT can be an all-pro, yes all-pro. Also David Harris will help him out because I don't think teams can key on both guys. Let the debate begin

If by legit, you mean proven and relatively young (3+ years left as an effective player) you absolutely keep Vilma... He and Harris in the middle could be excellent, as Harris' ability to take on OL would keep a lot of heat off of Vilma

Would love to see Vilma behind a huge space eater @ NT.

it depends, if its an accomplished veteran NT, then no....if its a rookie NT, I would consider trading Vilma to mold the defense to fit every player on the field...

I would do everything in my power to keep Vilma. He's a young player with an incredible career ahead of him, and he has already proved he's got what it takes to be a great player but he's definitely in the wrong system.

However, seeing what Donnie Edwards did in his career, I believe if you give Vilma the right protection he would flourish... even in the 3-4. Put better people around him and watch him explode.

no way not after the injury, i'd rather take my chances with a healthy young player then on a vet with 2 knee surgeries

The only way I'd keep Vilma at this point is if Mangini goes or if the Jets just can't get anything of real value for him in trade.

We've got 22+ games worth of evidence that he is nothing special in Mangini's 3-4 and can be an outright liability at times.

From what I have heard we don't even know if Vilma will be playing ball next year.

That might be a blessing in disguise for the Jets. They could put him on PUP for the whole year and by the end of it we'll likely know if Mangini is going to make it or not.

Vilma is not a 3-4 player. We should unload him now before he loses all value.

He's already lost enough value that the Jets will have no chance of getting a really strong offer for him. He's no longer worth a 1st round pick, although they might still get a 2nd for him.

Tourists lose their money all the time when they take their eyes off their wallet at Times Square on New Years and start watching the ball drop.

    Tannenbaum, Bradway, Mangini = Tourists
The NFL Management Scene = Times Square
10-6 last year = Bright glittering ball
2007 = Dropping fast... Wallet gone...

Ethan Kelley is going to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, I think could be a great option. 6-2, 338 and only 27. If we can get him, then we should keep Vilma.

Probably a microfracture, all the stuff in the media points to that.

He had some known condition in one of his knees at the time he was drafted. No idea if this is related to that. He passed every physical he took though and you can't fault the draft pick. He's already had as long a career as the average NFL LB.

He's just so talented. I think he just needs some time to adjust. Everyone has an off year. Vilma and harris -- it could be awesome.

Whats a 3-4 player anyway and even if we dont get a NT we should keep Vilma. The same people who are saying to trade Vilma will be crying and blaming the FO about trading him next year where he's ballin somewhere else. Young great players shouldnt be traded like they arent worth anything, Vilma knee injury has hurt his value which is great and i hope he goes nowhere.
