Oh I'm really glad we picked up another 4-3 lineman that is confident he can adapt well enough.
Bullshit pick up. Prove me wrong Mr Brown , I dare you.

Theres nothing to be lost in giving him a tryout , why not? I suppose Mangini has to get lucky at some point , how many D players is that now?

6'4 300 pound interior lineman. He's still a kid and could proably add another 15-20 pounds. Had an entire offseason, training camp, etc. in the Pats 3-4 system.

I'm just going to cross my fingers and pray for at least a backup calibre NT, maybe more.

Is this pick-up another reason that we should go 4-3??????????

He's an end in the 3-4. The height and athleticism he offers is perfect for
    the situation.

Why can't this guy stop bringing in f-----g NE players??!!!! Just stop bringing their coaches, their players, their trainers here and f-----g copying them. I hate this.

Think for yourself, build your own identity. Doesn't this guy realize his team's fans hate the Patriots??

Every loser we bring here from the Pats they know everything about.

It's so copycat, it really cheapens Mangini and our Jets. Everytime they cut a player... boom he's right down here and it's weak!!

    TF?

He's bigger than any of our ends. He's younger. Hes basically depth with great upside.

What does TF mean? Or was that supposed to be WTF?

It seems like our coach is just a wannabee who sucks NE's d--- too much. Please build our team with it's own identity, maybe some players they don't have experience with. Isn't it getting old after we sign Chatham, Dwight, hire Brian Daboll, their trainers, talk to Reche Caldwell, talk to Randall Gay, sign one of their loser OL, etc. etc. etc.

It's not like they released Richard Seymour and we jumped on him. Granted their roster is stacked and ours sucks, but this guy couldn't even get on the active roster for them this season.

I will admit I liked Mangini last year and thought he was promising but I never liked his penchant for wanting to make the NE Pats South squad. I don't care if they are the best team in the league, some day I want to beat them again with our own players and our own identity.

But isnt the NFL by its own admission a "copycat league? Also doesnt NE have the best record in all of football with a realistic chance of going undefeated? What part of that success do you not want to taint our beloved New York Jets persona????

I've been reading that Mangini has been very impressed by Pouha , so I guess if anyone is going to play that role it will be him.
I would think that its a certanty that we will draft a NT. Frank Okam who I like alot or maybe Dre Moore.

Okam is terrible and neither he nor Moore are NT prospects.

At this point, what does it hurt to bring him in? Can't make things any worse can he? Give him a chance.

Look to sign some Steeler players, some Colt players, some Packer players, etc. etc. In other words there are plenty of other great rosters to pillage for loser players if we have to.

I could see if we brought in a player or two from them, but we have dealt with like 10, and their coaches, and their trainers. These guys have all been bumbs too. Matt Chatham, that was a great pickup?? I am just saying our coach is obsessed with the NE players, the scheme, etc. It's weak. He had to run their 3-4 didn't he? Tomlin stuck with a system that was working even though he came from another school of thought, and it's the best in the league. What does Mangini do? Takes a top 10 defense and blows it up. I think in 2004 Donnie Henderson's defense was ranked 5th or so. Don't you think he is obsessed with everything NE? If it's a good pickup it's a good pickup, but do we have to talk to everyone who gets cut up there? And do everything the way Little Bill does it?

And as far as tainting the Jets persona as you said... I wouldn't be happy if our coach got caught videotaping other teams sidelines... cheating, guys getting caught with Human Growth Hormone, guys spiking balls on the Colts 50, dancing on the Chargers field, running up scores, taking cheap shots at QB's knees (Losman)... I used to respect them, but the past 2 years have shown how classless they are. It makes me believe guys like Ted Johnson who said little bill made him go back in the game with a concussion and other allegations of cheating against them.

My point is yes I want to win every game and win a Super Bowl, of course, but if our coach gets caught cheating... then he should be fired. I am interested in good sportsmanship but that's just me.

What the hell does this have to do with Kareem Brown?

Wow thats a huge implication for picking up a talented Miami U player.

You do realize that hardly any college employ the 3-4 right? Practically every 3-4 lineman in the NFL came from a college 4-3 defense

I agree with gustoonarmy regarding Pouha. I think he's a better NT than DRob. I was at the Pitt. game and really focused on #91 - the boy consistently got great penetration and disrupted the run game. Parker/Devenport couldn't escape him. He moves laterally as well as DRob.

DRob really should be played at end for the remainder of the season to assess his value to this DLine. Maybe more space will allow him to use his speed.

Kareem Brown is a solid pick-up - - I don't care what team he comes from (beggars can't be choosers). Looking forward to what he can offer. He's rated as an above average DL prospect. I'll be watching for #97

Did you just read the last sentence of the post??

Kareem Brown was in response to Mangini's penchant for pillaging NE's player, coaches etc.

If you would have read the rest of the post and the other guys post I was responding to, the cheating and lack of sportsmanship was in comparing the two franchises, a different topic.

    That had to be explained?

Kareem's a talented guy, and will be a good fit as a 3-4 defensive end. There was a stretch when he was the best defensive lineman on the team at Miami, but he had some injuries get the better of him for a bit. Stepped up in a big way his senior year as well, I think he could develop into something with work.
