I agree. That said, if you don't have command and movement, that 95+ fastball won't save you (see Farnsworth). It wouldn't shock me if Mota was a solid pitcher next year, especially now that he won't have to deal with the (justified) abuse from Mets fans. The trade was still a no-brainer IMO.
I remember reading that a big part of Mota bouncing back after coming from Cleveland to the Mets was that he was standing on the wrong side of the rubber in Cleveland and thinking that the Indians pitching coach deserved to be smacked if he couldn't figure that out.
