All of the papers this morning , post , news , ledger etc all start to question and openly criticise Clemens . When will the NY media ever learn to give players time to learn and grow or wilL they continue the 30 year cycle of constant criticism , sniping and a seemingly ridiculous pleasure in the failiure of the franchise. Clemens did not play well but that Offense is offensive! 2 WR's who are above average the rest could not catch Herpes , an Offensive line that couldn't stop a pass rush from a 70 year old grandma. Clemens should start next year , we need to build a strong OL and DL plus add 2 wrs . To start talking about drafting a QB in 2008 is in my opinion SOJ! In short give the kid time to grow and more importantly time to actually pass the ball!
yup, I posted this in another thread but what you said is exactly how I feel... I just CANNOT BELIEVE how little patience ppl have here. It's unbelievable. I just pray that this town doesnt ruin a good thing (Mangini/Clemens) before they have a chance to be great. I dont understand why you would think less of Clemens all of a sudden after this game. We had absolutely no running game, Coles was out, our recievers played REALLY poorly against Dallas, we were on a short week, and we were using an offensive gameplan that has probably expired after last week. I mean it's not even like this guy threw 3 picks, he threw ONE and receivers were rarely open. He was throwing from all 2nd and long and 3rd n long situations as well because of the empty running game on first down. Jesus Christ. This guy is the truth, he has the tools and the moxy, give him time....
Honestly, I have seen nothing from Clemens so far that would inspire that level of optimism in me. All I've seen is Clemens missing his targets most of the time. Chad was accurate with no arm. Clemens has an arm but doesn't seem very accurate. When the hell is this franchise going to get a QB that has an arm AND is accurate? Also, most great QB's are pretty boys...Clemens looks like the deformed guy from "Goonies". That alone should tell us he won't be a great QB.
The guy was running for his life for most of the game....also he's making his 4th start against a very good pass rush. Clemens will get better with time and a better O-line. How can you give up on a guy so quickly.....
Why the Chad haters had no patience with him this calling for his head in week 4. They were saying he is done - turns out maybe they were right., Clemens pick 6 was bad as any he threw this season - although 14-0 the game was still fairly competitve at that point. After 4 starts some are questioning his ability - they may be right. Clemens hasn't made any of the throws everyone says Chad cant make and is wildly innacurate. All your excuses are the same ones the Chad Lovers were using all year that everyone so quickly dismissed. Bottom Line is that Clemens is not ready to be a starting NFL QB , will he ever be? the jury is still out, I personally dont think so and I never have. And to call Mangini a good thing? - This is one of the worst coached teams in all of football right now.
hmmm... correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember the press turning on Eli during his 4 - 12 season.... More anti Jet bias?
I agree. The play-calling is so predictably conservative. The team has won 2 games...what the frick are they afraid of at this point? Air it out!
Theres no speed @ WR....nobody can get open...also Clemens was running for his life most of the game. However play calling is horrible, and its been like that for alot of games....Brian has been very disappointing this year.
Actually, they were quite hard on Eli Manning...constantly bringing up the fact the Giants passed up Rivers and Rothlisberger for him.
Yeah well they need something to write about......so I am just gonan leave it at that. It's hard to imagine that people that who cover football for a living lack so much knowledge about thsi game (IE. the fact that having no running game and horrible protection MIGHT effect a QB's play)
the problem with last nigt game we was looking for the deep ball to much. If you know ur having a problem with the OL protecting Kellen y in the hell would u keep wanting to go deep. Was Kellen fault NO but it damn sure was coaching
Agreed on all of the above. You can't assess Clemens adequately while the offensive line is this bad and most of his receivers have the dropsies. I've counted more dropped passes in his 4 starts than the Jets normally have in an entire season. The last Jets receiver who had hands as bad as this group tend to have was Dedric Ward and Vinny had Keyshawn and Chrebet to throw too when he needed a catch on 3rd down.
The problem with last night was the Jets receivers can't catch anything this season and the Jets kept running the ball for 2 to -1 on 1st down setting up bad second and long that then turned into 3rd and long. Kellen Clemens right now is dealing with what Richard Todd dealt with in the late 70's: high expectations and lousy talent and coaching around him.
Has anyone thought that maybe we are now seeing what our coaching staff saw in KC all along. We (on this board) thought that our coaching staff was stupid because they did not pull Chad out earlier. Maybe there was a reason for that and once the season was really over they finally pulled the trigger and now we are seeing a QB that was not quite ready for prime time on a team that has major issues. As for the NY Media...this is how they have always been. I remember when Richard Todd came in for a seriously washed up Namath. (On a side note, we gave Namath as many years to be washed up as we gave Chad games!) The media and the brilliant fans were on a young Todd like stink on crap. It took a serious rebuilding and a few years for Todd to hit his stride. This is where people who think I hate KC have it all wrong. KC looks a lot like a young Richard Todd. They are the exact same size. A size that was considered big in the 70's. They both have strong arms but not very accurate. Todd became more accurate years later. They both broadcast who they are throwing to. I can go on and on. So as I have said many times, I really hope KC is the real deal. I am just not yet seeing it and I guess I am not the only one. In todays world and the NFL now, how patient are we going to be? We lost our patience for Chad in a finger click, what are we going to do with KC...
I was about to make fun of this comment...but when I started thinking about it........YOU'RE RIGHT!!! :rofl2:
The most alarming revelation this year I beleive is the apparent swing and miss on D'Brickishaw and Mangold. That was a huge draft opportunity for the Jets and so far they look like servicable o-lineman but they're hardly dominant. You expect in year two of 1st round draft picks that they'd begin to establish thmeselves as dominators. Not happening. You can't swing and miss like that with two first rounders. I would say the same thing for Maroney in NE. Seems to be injury prone, soft, and hesistant to initiate contact. My theory is that O-lineman should never be drafted in the first round. It's a position that can be taugght with good technique and strength and conditioning. Great D-lineman however have a gift. They have a burst and an ability to move laterally and play with great leverage. They warrant 1st round picks. Magini is a medicore, under-qualified head coach. Had he come up as an assitant under Marty Schottenheimer or someone like that, he'd still be fetching coffee. Weiss appears to be a fraud as well. Belichick, despite his dead fish personality is the best coach out there.
Yeah, he as has not gotten better yet, but we gotta give him till the end of the season before judging him. We have no weapons. Cotchery has dissapeared
Clemens was playing with BRAD SMITH AND JUSTIN MCCARIENS! Cotchery is not a #1 and always disappears when Coles is not playing. No running game yesterday, no protection and no wr's getting away from the secondary. WTF do they want him to do?
