Seeing that we have #4 and #29, I went and checked out who was taken at these spots in the past. I am for keeping both picks and not moving up. Tamke Williams or Furgeson at 4 and the best player available at 29..

But anyway, here is the list of players taken at 4 and 29..

    2005
4 Chicago Cedric Benson RB Texas
29 Indianapolis Marlin Jackson CB Michigan

    2004
4 N.Y. Giants Philip Rivers QB North Carolina State
29 Atlanta Michael Jenkins WR Ohio State

    2003
4 N.Y. Jets Dewayne Robertson DT Kentucky
29 Green Bay Nick Barnett MLB Oregon State

    2002
4 Buffalo Mike Williams T Texas
29 Chicago Marc Colombo T Boston College

    2001
4 Cincinnati Justin Smith DE Missouri
29 St. Louis Ryan Pickett NT Ohio State

    2000
4 Cincinnati Peter Warrick WR Florida State
29 Jacksonville R. Jay Soward WR Southern California

    1999
4 Indianapolis Edgerrin James RB Miami
29 Minnesota Dimitrius Underwood DT Michigan State

    1998
4 Oakland Charles Woodson CB Michigan
29 Miami John Avery RB Mississippi

Exactly.... So why give up 2 picks for 1, when you don't know if you will get a star..4 Indianapolis Edgerrin James RB Miami

    Or a BUST

4 Cincinnati Peter Warrick WR Florida State

This basically confirms that we gave away Abe for nothing. I wish everyone could put away their love of the draft for half a second to see how worthless some of these picks really are.

Waaay too early to proclaim Benson and Rivers as busts,IMO.Rivers is just getting a chance to start now after 2 seasons behind a Pro-Bowl QB,and we didn't see enough of Benson in only 1 season to know anything.

Exactly the reason to trade 29 to move up to 2 and take Leinart, I love these people who keep on saying get more picks, as if quantity is going to equate to quality

Remember when Parcells didn't take Pace and traded the pick for 4 picks, how did that work out.

That 29 pick has maybe a 10 percent chance of getting a quality player.

Then you have these other clowns like Mike and the Mad Dog who talk about all of the first round QB busts and how that is the hardest position to draft and evaluate talent. What a bunch of garbage, all the positions are hard, it is just that the QB picks get more media and more scrutiny.

Take the first round in the past 15 years and you will see an equal number of busts at all positions. Dewayne Robertson had just as much stock as so called Super Mario has now, there are no guarantees.

Most people on this board sound like scared wimps, you want to draft out of fear. If you really want to win you make bold picks and go for the most important position. We are supposed to believe that because this is Mangini's first year he should play it safe. If that is the case then why did we hire Mangini. If we want a winner leading us we don't want him to play it safe and of course intelligent people know there is no safe.

The Jets have one glaring need at the most important position, Quarterback. I'm actually shocked that even one fan doesn't want Leinart let alone the majority.

Oh no, the Jets are screwed. We should just forefit our draft picks now because of a poor history with other teams and those picks.
