the man to due the most with the least. Eveyy said New England & the Colts would be the top teams but NO one would have ever believed Favre still had a championship run in him still left.

If not the MVP then at least the comback player of the year.

Comeback player of the year? I could probably live with that.

However if the season ended today and Brady didn't win it, the award would be a sham. Brady's having one of the best season's for a QB ever recorded and if he keeps up this pace he'll win it hands down.

    EDIT: Wrong forum too

Farve has always been my favorite player to watch (outside of the Jets). Before him it was Steve Young. Guys always put on a show. Unfortunately,as great a year as Favre is having,i don't think the pack has a chance against the likes of the Pats or Colts if they make it to the SB. I hope i'm wrong, but i don't think so.
But yeah, the guy seems to have found the fountain of youth.

Brady should be the MVP unanimously. I can't believe we're even talking about this.

As for comeback player of the year, Favre works. Did Derek Anderson come back from anything? I guess not.

Comeback Player of the Year goes to somebody who had an injury the season before. I'm not sure, but I don't think Favre missed too many games last year.

No doubt MVP, however. Brady is a tool.

Many times it does, but not all the time.

One of my favorite players is Jon Kitna. He won the award in 2003. In 2002 he played 14 games and started 12.

Jerome Bettis won it his first year in Pittsburgh. He had played 15 games the prior year for St. Louis.

Not to turn this thread into yet another example of the Pats coming in and shitting over all things fun for other teams, but Randy Moss is the hands down comeback player of the year

Although playing for the Raiders is a detriment, it is not "comeback" worthy.

Why should the NFL honor someone because they went from playing for the worst team in the NFL and quitting, to getting traded to a dynasty and winning?

Ben Roethlisberger was in a motorcycle accident, had an appendectomy, concussions, you name it.

Now He's quietly having a big year. He's definitely a big reason the Steelers flipped it from a 2-6 start last year to a 6-2 start this year.

Randy Moss was just a crybaby that quit on his team. You shouldn't get an award for deciding to play again.

Bingo.... guys who publicly come out and say things about they only play hard when they want to should never get any awards except the biggest vagina award.

It's gotta be Big Ben, considering Hines Ward missed 2 or 3 games I'd even consider Big Ben for MVP. Granted Brady is having an unreal season but look at who he is throwing to and there is always the spygate thing so the questions of cheating will always come into play.

Well the infallible wikipedia has this to say of the award: "The player named Comeback Player of the Year shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance."

Did Moss not preform in Oakland because he was sick of the shitty team, because his team sucked (as in he had no support), or because he was oft injured? Probably a combination of all of those things.

    Here's Roethelisberger's 06 stats followed by his projected ones for 07: 59.7 completion % 3513 yards 18 tds 23 ints 75.4 rating
    66.1 passing %, 3591 yards, 39 tds, 12 ints, 110.2 rating

Same thing here but with Moss:
    (only 13 games): 553 yards, 42 recps, 3 tds
    Projected 07: 1643 yards, 100 recps, 21 (!!!) tds

Both are very impressive jumps, and I think both should be considered eligible for the award. Both could win deservedly, and both might (it's happened in the past).

Now I do realize that this has nothing to do with the thread topic, so I guess for the sake of being on topic I'll say that there is no way in hell (nor should there be) that Bret Favre beats out Tom Brady for NFL MVP.

Maybe I'm in the minority in this but I cannot fucking stand the ball-washing America's favorite redneck gets every week from the media. People love the guy because he is white and because he makes a lot of throws that result in spectacular, game-changing plays for his team 2/10 times, the other 8 being picked off. I thought I wasn't going to have to listen to all that salivating over stupid/ spectacular throws, but then Tony Romo had to come in and make my life not worth living.

I would agree that Favre doesn't beat out Brady for MVP based on performance thus far, but the gun-slinging red neck has earned his share of ball washings so far this season.

Will that stop anyone from getting off of Brady's ass? No.

The way he is playing, and if he keeps it going, I don't see how Favre can't get the award. Look what he is doing. His age comes into play, and that fact that he is giving all his receivers looks every game shows he can get it done.

My thought process tells me if they were cheating before they are still cheating in a new way but haven't been caught.

Whether or not he has earned them this season is besides the point. Sean Salisbury didn't try to conceal his massive Ron Burgandy-style erections even in '05 when the man was awful. I shudder to think what they must be saying when he actually DOES deserve some credit.

Favre is having a damn good year, but seriously, look at Tom Brady's numbers. The man is on pace to break like 600 passing records for the season. What we're finding out is that Brady probably deserved the MVP more last season when he propelled a receiving core of absolutely nothing to 12 wins and 4 yards away from a 4th Super Bowl, since now he's putting up historic numbers with great receivers. Don't let your Pats hating bias convince you of something as absurd as the notion that a man who throws (probably) 50 td passes shouldn't be the MVP.
