A charge that has been levelled against the Colts many times in the past. I don't have enough posts to post a link apparently, so I pulled this from ProFootball Talk.com. It is the first play of the 4th quarter and as Moss catches a pass, the "crowd" noise apparently starts to skip! The stadium then becomes dead quiet like they got nervous and turned it off. CROWD NOISE SKIPS AT COLTS GAME? It's a subject that will be addressed more fully in some Internet hack's Ten-Pack of Week Nine observations for SportingNews.com. For now, we'll mention only that there are renewed question as to whether the Colts are pumping fake crowd noise into their home games. Click here for a listen, and stay tuned for more from SportingNews.com.
It's on the highlight vid on nfl.com. It must have been incredible obvious at the stadium. The crowd noise on the video goes from being pretty damn loud, skipping, then dead silence.
talk about calling the kettle black.. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl_experts/post/Patriots-complain-about-crowd-noise?urn=nfl,52422
Hey, we were punished for violating NFL rules. Other teams, if they too violated NFL rules, should be held just as accountable. I see nothing wrong with looking into this, and in fact the Colts did nothing wrong then drop it. The standard can not be, "Well, it was against the Pats, so it doesn't matter." In addition, the Pats were without their Coach to QB radio, but I don't see anyone else who was outraged when it happened to the Redskins here upset anymore. - http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm
Cheating is cheating... but it is funny as hell to hear a pack of cheaters preach about it. F'n hypocrites...
Who preached? Again, the new standard is not that you can violate rules against the Pats. We were penalized for our violations, just as others should be if they in fact violate rules as well. As of now, it is just an allegation, and the Colts are innocent until proven guilty. What's the big deal?
C'mon DW. I'm not defending the colts cause if this is true they deserve to be punished w/ no questions asked. But you know as well as i do that there were dozens of pats fans on HERE and on message boards everywhere defending the cheating and continue to defend to this day... I know you guys feel cornered and hung out to dry by the rest of the league...but many of your colleagues DID and DO defend blatant cheating which affects the overall integrity of the game itself.
Personally, I think it should be looked into and stopped. I don't consider it a really big deal, tho......I see little difference between that and posting "Make some NOISE!!!" on the jumbotron. The Pats mikes were also malfunctioning for nearly the entire game...should we accuse the Colts of jamming them? If the situation were reversed, it would be a big deal, because it's the Pats. Neither of these things concern me. What concerned me was the terrible job the referees did. It makes me wonder if the NFL has proper safegaurds in place to keep the referees from being bribed.
Meh. I didn't have much of a problem with videotaping coaches signals; nor do I have much of an issue with piping in crowd noise. Gamesmanship in the NFL - go figure. In both cases, I find it amusing how they were caught.
If the Colts felt the need to pipe in sound in this game, implying that the home crowd wasn't enough...they should find better fans.
Enough of the generalities about all Pats fans. I am a Pats fan and say that we violated the rules, and in turn, we deserve to be penalized, which we were. I am in no way justifying or trying to say we did not violate the rules. In turn, anyone else who violated rules should be subject to punishment if the NFL in fact finds they violated rules. If they didn't, drop it and move on. Not all Pats fans are saying we didn't violate rules.
