Im a college football junkie as well and I saw him dominate in college football. I dont see how not being in the elite class of Ogden and Pace is a knock on him.
It isnt.. i just wanted to establish the fact that he wasnt in the class of ogden/pace coming out. those guys are what you call dominant. even bryant McKinnie deserve that title coming out. Ferguson is a great player though. just not the elite propect people overrate him as.
I don't know but when we finally moved AJ to LT last year we started scoring more often. Our run game opened and then the pass game did too.
No offensive tackle is worth a top 10 pick. Walter jones, pace, ogden are, but thats because we know how they play. These rookies are unknown in the NFL, and there are too many bust tackles than star tackles in the NFL who were drafted in the first round. Too much of a gamble at 4, i think ferguson would be a great pick at 12 or lower.
Chasing down a defender that we just threw another interception to? Not sure if this is a trick question.
No he can't. He has none of the tools to play RT. Him or Jones at RT is an absolute disaster. Weight has very little to do with playing an effective RT.
i wouldnt take brick at 4, i like jones' potiential, i would trade back take BPA, and hope McNeil is ther at 29. A line of Jone, kendell, BPA, moore, Mcneil. Maybe a trade for faine of the browns would be nice.
This issue completely baffles me. How can all of you DBrick bashers justify your opinions when you stand in the face of a phenomenal college career, a perfect body type, extremely unique athleticism and balance and endless praise across the board from people who actually do this for a living? I understand wanting the Jets to go in another direction, but you can say that without attempting to rip DBrick. He is clearly worth the #4 pick in the draft. He clearly fills a need for the Jets. A. Jones did start there and was capable but there were also "capable" players with "potential" playing positions that you all are trying to fill at the #4 spot. He is obviously the best player coming out at his position. EVERY pro scout praises the guy and calls him cant miss. Scouts Inc. which was used in this thread to prove a point AGAINST DBrick has the guy rated as the #2 OVERALL Prospect. #2 only behind Bush. He is ranked among the top 5 on every list I have seen. The guy was cant miss last year and remains that way today. He is not a flash in the pan who put up some gaudy combine or senior day numbers and is all of a sudden the latest fad (Read: Cutler this year and DRob). I understand the argument to go in another direction. I dont understand ripping the guy when basic logic and every quantifiable fact stands in your way. Mud Disclaimer: If given my choice of players, I would go with the following guys, in order: Bush, Leinart, Super Mario, and DBrick. I would be ecstatic with any of these.
Jones is a converted TE, give him time. He will be a very solid LT. D'Brick will be better IMO, but he is not truly needed here. We have much bigger holes to fill with our first pick. I am fine with Jones and Hopefully Runyan anchoring the line with Kendall, Moore and perhaps Mangold at center. Any news on Goodwin?
I totally agree. We only need one rookie starting on the line not two. Brick is going to be great but Jones is good and still developing. He has the potential to be and extreamly solid LT and he is still learning, give him time. We should use the #4 on Mario or trade down and get hawk
