This is going to be a tough series. The Rockies are playing exceptional baseball right now. Hats off to them.

As for Yankees fans, I wouldn't expect anything less than your typical responses. I am sure it would be the same if it was the Yankees/Rockies.

The problem for the Rockies is going to be the long layoff. What is it, like 9 days? Boston is going into the series pumped up off a huge comeback win, in front of a crowd that's sure to be pumped up.

Still, Rockies in 6.

My hatred of the Red sox came about alittle differently than others on here. I was raised a Pittsburgh Pirates fan(My great grandfather came over from Germany to Pittsburgh,thus alot of my extended family resides there). Growing up in New England...I really didn't care about the Sox/Yanks bout. I considered the Yankees my second fav. team...but back then, the Pirates were actually GOOD so I really had no say in the manner.

Around 97 or so, I'm not sure what happend in New England, but suddenly Red Sox fans became unbearable. Maybe it was the emergance of Pedro and/or Nomar, but for whatever reason, they were absolutely obsessive, irrational and frankly obnoxious. I slowly began to despise them, wanting nothing more than for the fans to shut up and be realistic.

In that same time frame, the Patriots began to actually HAVE fans(ex Giant bandwagoners due to Parcells) and my hatred for them grew as well. Before ya knew it, suddenly there was a barrage of obnoxious "Sox/pats" fans, running rampid..and frankly making life difficult for other sports fans such as myself. This was when my true hatred arised for all that is Boston

Around the year 2000, the Pirates were a bonified farm team, and were on TV twice a year if I was lucky...and hence I switched over full time to being a Yanks fan. One could say I jumped on the bandwagon..but hey..they've won one championship since I came along for the ride..and I havent switched teams yet. And after 25 long suffering years as a Jets fan, and the fact that I took 4 Boston championships on the chin living in downtown providence(Baby Boston), I don't think anyone would push such claims.

As for Boston, they win the series in 5.

In a way, it doesnt bother me too much,as I have alot of close friends including devil who are passionate, die hard fans who have suffered for a long time, much like the Jets. But at the same time, this "City of champions" stuff, one way or another, needs to be taken down a notch. It's getting out of hand.There is NOTHING loveable about the Patriots.

 

Wow, that's horrendous. You bandwagoned to the Yankees in 2000 and you were all up in arms about a Red Sox fan talking a little shit? At least you admit you're a bandwagoner, I guess, even though you do try to justify it.

 

I'm more anti-red sox than a Yanks fan. I'm not really a huge baseball fan. I enjoy the sport but it's been ruined for me by what I mentioned above: Sox fans. Hence why i went off.

 

I dont care who wins. parts of me want to sox to win to give them more ammo against the yankees, but part of me wants the rockies to win cause I hate that whole NL is AAAA ball compared to pussy AL ball where the pitches never have to stand in the batters box.

As a long time suffering Pirates fan...I find it real easy to root for the underdog. I love seeing Goliath fall unless it's one of my fav teams of course.

The amazing story that is the 2007 Rockies would only be complete with an improbable series win over the Red Sox.

How amazing would it be if they followed a former Pirates teams method of success.

Imagine Kaz Matsui jacking an improbable game 7 homer to win it

 

I'm jealous. I really wish I could still root for the Bucs the way I used to. I can remember the Zane Smith, Andy Van Slyke, Bob Walk days like it was yesterday.

I'm sure you live in the pittsburgh area so you still at least get to see them play. I only get to see them twice a year if i'm lucky...and the pathetic nature of the franchise took a tole on me..
