Johnathan Joseph's 42-yard interception return for a score clinches the game for the Bengals.

CINCINNATI - The Jets lost another game and Chad Pennington lost his biggest supporter yesterday, a staggering blow to his reign as the starting quarterback.

For the first time since his job security became an issue three weeks ago, Pennington didn't receive a public vote of confidence last night from a seething Eric Mangini, who put the entire team on notice after a ghastly 38-31 loss to the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.

Instead of declaring, "Chad is the starting quarterback," as he has done so many times, Mangini resorted to the time-tested, kiss-of-death: "I'll have to watch the tape."

We are at that point in the season where it is not going to hurt to start Clemens and seeing what he has to offer. This was the likely scenario where the season would pretty much be over in terms of having a shot at the playoffs and maybe now the coaching staff can feel freed up to get creative and maybe change some things. Chad had a decent game against the Bengals, but not exactly one that I would think would get him canned for the year. If they use that as the excuse now it will be just that.

At any rate the season for the most part is a washout. Might as well get something else out of it now and hopefully it helps us for next year.

I am glad we can celebrate being 1-6. I hope Clemens is the next coming of John Elway, because he is the only QB i have ever seen win consistently with this bad of a team around him.

All-right, was just about to post the quote about the "kiss-of-death" after reading it on CBS. I think this may be the week we've all been waiting for. Woo-frickin'-hoo! It's about time.

BTW, is it Thanksgiving in UK? cause ours isn't till the end of November.

I was wondering about that too. Thanksgiving is November 22nd here as well. Gus has once again been on the adult beverage.

Kellen Clemens first game as the QB of the Jets...Bills @ Jets

C'mon Mangini, what do we have to lose?

Let's see if the franchise QB is here.

Thanksgiving in Canada was on October 8, so the present is two weeks late for the "eh?" crowd.

Great, but I still wish the change happened when we still had a "chance"

Franchise QB meaning he will MAYBE show signs of being the franchise QB.

I think he will do well, but its never guaranteed...

I am hoping for the best.

This is from the Douche Bags blog:

    "October 22, 2007
Mangini Declines to Give Chad Vote of Confidence

It's official: The Jets have no starting quarterback.

Reiterating the stance he took after yesterday's game, Eric Mangini declined to give a public vote of confidence to Chad Pennington, saying he needs more time to study the situation.

"I'm going through the process of evaluating everything," he said. "With Chad, I thought he did a lot of good things. (He) got us out of some really good checks, made some really nice throws. Obviously, the throw with the interception, he'd like to have back. There are a couple of reads I'm sure he'd like to have back, and I'd like him to have back. But he's one part of the process. It's a complete process."

It wouldn't be a surprise if Mangini doesn't announce his decision until Sunday, trying to gain a competitive advantage over the Bills. At this point, that would be a small gain. It would help him and the team more if he came out Wednesday with a decisive plan, saying it's Pennington or Kellen Clemens.
