Why don't you read my post? I mentioned, specifically, the play across the middle to Cotchery as a good throw Chad made which gave Cotchery the opportunity to make a play....
Why do we not run more routes like this? I am so confused about the way the O looks. I really think the spacing is very poor on offense. I would like to see more single back with TE and 3 wide or RB, FB, 3 wide or pro set with RB, FB, TE, 2 wide with the QB under center. It seems like we are trying to run a Madden offense with all this shotgun 4 wide instead of a NFL offense. Beaman, My bad, I must have missed that.
Understandable bro... With Chad's limitations, I believe that, as long as he's in there, those play action passes over the middle are something we should be doing more of.... Obviously, he's struggling to complete anything but the short dump-offs when the D knows it's coming.... It's why I hate when we line up on a 3rd and 5 or 6 with nobody in the backfield... It takes away the threat of a run and the possibility of play action, and makes Chad's ineffectiveness that much worse...
Agree, I would really like to see a more simplistic offense. I don't care if Chad can't throw it deep, but if a WR runs a post pattern, the safety is going to follow and clear out. If he doesn't, even with Chad's arm, he can get it there. I started to like the play calling in the 1st half last week, but then we got away from it. I don't get it. The weakest part of Chad's game is outside the numbers, but that is where all the patterns seem to be ran. Throwing deep does not mean a 15 yard out or fade pattern. What is wrong with a post pattern, crossing patterns and I think Chad throws a good flag pattern. I would also like to see a lot less shotgun. If I remember correctly, even with Vinny and 5 wide it was usually a short pass because everyone drops deep and it gets too crowded.
We lost him, we lost him in 2004 in Buffalo. I believe Chad was going to be elite, but that day in Buffalo ruined all that. Go to nfl.com, then go to Videos. Go to Highlights, pick the year 2004 and watch all the Jets highlights thru Week 9. (There was a bye Week 3) He threw with so much more confidence, threw down the field, all that. I know that the schedule was a little softer, but I think we were robbed of our guy. I hate to admit it but it is time to start Clemens. Love Chad but it isn't just the arm, there is a lack of confidence, like he is afraid to make the mistakes he is making. Watching the games it feels like the arm is the least of it, its the lack of confidence.
The only stats that matter should be wins and losses. I have enjoyed watching Chad for many years, but it is time to put the kid in.
bad decisions CAUSED BY weak arm BECAUSE Dbs know about Weak arm and are PLAYING UP ready to JUMP THE ROUTES. NEW QB with good arm gives DBs at least the thought they COULD GET burned and better not CHEAT UP. Benching Chad would IMPROVE ATTITUDE of all players on both OFFENSE AND DEFENSE because right now THE JETS look beaten before they start the game WITH PENNINGTON playing qb.
yeah......whatever...if we traded for Peyton Manning or Tom Brady , It wouldn't matter. The QB AINT the problem!
Wrong. The qb certainly isn't the whole problem, but our qb is certainly a major part of the problem. And the only part of the problem we can try to fix before the next offseason.
A 7.9 bad decisions making percentage. That's the strangest stat Iv ever heard. I Know that players dont ever want to peform the way Chad is but from what we have seen game film wont help!
You can attribute the poor decision making to Chad's confidence being shot - just like his arm. No Confidence + No Arm = Losses. How's that for a formula?
Chad isn't the only problem, but you've got to be delusional if you think an improvement at QB wouldn't make a difference.
It's not only bad decisions, it's his throws are always so soft, such floaters. Yeah, he can throw it down the field 10-20-30 yards, but when the defense has time to go to the sideline, heat up a cup of coffee and butter a bagel by the time the ball gets to the receiver, it's not a good thing generally. He's good at placing it where he wants it usually, (aside from the underthrown ball to Coles on the left side last game) but since they are just such floaters, it's so easy to intercept or disrupt. I think that's a big part of it.
